EXPERIENCE
Field Operations Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field. Four years of progressively responsible experience in core transportation operations. Two of the four years should be in a supervisory capacity. The candidate must possess knowledge of industry-standard bus operations procedures, service requirements, emergency, and safety protocols, as well as service equipment. Demonstrated ability to perform effectively under tight deadlines, extreme pressure, and adverse conditions. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are a prerequisite, along with the capability to communicate effectively with union representatives. Proficiency in transit software and intermediate-level use of personal computers and associated software is necessary. In lieu of a degree, directly related experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
INTERVIEW SELECTION PROCESS
The selection process may include one or more components to demonstrate applicants’ knowledge, skills and abilities in job related areas. These may include exercises such as practical demonstrations, written communications, oral interviews and/or competency assessments. SUMMARY Field Operations Oversees the management and coordination of bus operations for the Authority. Ensures compliance and safety regulations and maintain fleet vehicles while monitoring scheduled routes. Prepares and delivers comprehensive reports on operational activities, incidents and service performance to relevant stakeholders. May collaborate with diverse departments within the agency and community entities to address concerns and improve services. Responds to accidents and incidents in the field, as well as overseeing all aspects of Special Events.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Field Operations 1. Provides strategic direction and leadership in the planning, coordination and execution of all field operations related to bus transportation services. 2. Ensures the enhancement and sustained optimal performance of bus transportation services, focusing on reliability, punctuality and adherence to established operational standards. Identifies and addresses service-related issues. 3. Manages labor relations, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment. 4. Leads initiatives aimed at continuous improvement of bus transportation services, incorporating innovative approaches and industry best practices. 5. Executes major assignments related to day-to-day operations, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of operational requirements and challenges. 6. Provides leadership and assistance in responding to accidents and incidents, ensuring effective resolution and compliance with safety protocols. 7. Serves as lead contact for all Special Events, coordinating transportation services to accommodate increased demand and specific event requirements. 8. Performs other related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Field Operations Directly supervises a staff of approximately 50 or more transportation employees (supervisors and operators).
