Job Title:

Café Coordinator Reports to: Director of Operations To support our mission, Hotel Hope, an emergency shelter for unhoused women with children, is seeking a compassionate individual to join our team who respects the dignity of all human beings and believes in providing opportunity to all. This individual will be responsible for keeping the café clean and organized as well as supervising the chores of the guests in the bistro. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in kitchen organization and supervision skills. This individual will work closely with both the Coordinator of Guests Services and Volunteers and the Director of Operations.

Classification:

Non-Exempt Hourly Job Summary Café Coordinator will be responsible for keeping the café clean and organized as well as supervising the chores of the guests in the bistro. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in kitchen organization and supervision skills. Mornings the bistro is open to the guests, so preparation for the continental breakfast is done prior by the Café Coordinator. Though there is a meal schedule in place in the evenings, at times the café coordinator may need to defrost a meal for the following evening from the freezer prior to leaving for the evening. Guests have bistro jobs such as wiping off tables, chairs, the floor, and the washing machine. Guests may never be in the café unattended. This individual must have patience, a firm but gentle leadership style and be able to communicate with staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Keeps kitchen clean and organized
  • Takes laundry out at the end of the day
  • Supervises guests’ chores
  • Boxes up dinner for those guests working
  • Alerts supervisor of any equipment needing attention
  • Cleans out inside refrigerators and freezers daily
  • Prepares breakfast continental service Maintain Café
Logs:

 How many meals are served daily  Food and drink/snack items that need reordering weekly  Report critical incidents immediately to

 Works in collaboration with all staff to facilitate a team environment  Participates in Operation meetings and commits to group decisions  Role models effective team behaviors  Demonstrates effective communication skills in building relationships with all employees and guests and volunteers  Creates good working relationships with volunteers and guests  Meets regularly with Director of Operations Hotel Hope Values and Culture  Treats all guests, visitors, volunteers and employees with love, kindness, respect and dignity  Adheres to Hotel Hope policies, procedures, code of conduct and attendance rules  Maintains strict confidentiality of all information  Adheres to the policies in the use of computer technology and all tele-communication device
