  • Director of Operations (FY25-26) New Orleans Charter Science and Math High School 2011 Bienville St, New Orleans, LA 70112 Co-Director of Operations Job Description Mission New Orleans Charter Science and Mathematics High School is an open-admission public charter school that prepares all students for college admissions and successful careers.

Sci High provides a rigorous high school curriculum with an emphasis in science and in a supportive environment of learning and respect that prepares students to make informed choices about post-secondary pursuits.

Position Overview:

The Co-Director of Operations collaborates with their counterpart to implement and maintain the school’s operational systems, allowing for smooth day-to-day functioning of the school which results in increased support for teachers and growing achievement for students.

Role-specific Duties:

As a member of the Operations Team, you are expected to: Collaborate with Co-Director of Operations Communicate with outside partners : Provide oversight for operational activities such as transportation, technology, facility maintenance, facility lease, school safety & security, and special events. Provide input and participate in school procurement processes. Create and implement efficient systems : Support school operations sustainably by creating and maintaining function-specific process maps, reports, and adapting procedures as necessary. Manage school purchasing process of tracking deliverables and inventories. Ensure the timely implementation of all items on state monthly benchmark/reporting calendar. Manage facility planning tasks with district and state partners, principal, facility manager, and school-based team. Communicate operational needs to administration : Support the Head of School in all budget management function as it relates to operations. Ensure compliance : Ensure adherence to school’s fiscal policy and procedures. Participate in annual financial audit (as required) by providing documentation as needed. Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and local employment laws and policies with the support of administrative team. Assist faculty : Coordinate facility orientation of all new staff, including presenting new/updated professional development topics. Supporting faculty all year by providing a safe, clean, and highly functional school facility & environment. Maintain records : Provide proper documentation of all financial transactions and submit to Finance. Participate in monthly meetings to review budget variances. Monitor monthly bank statements and complete bank deposit slips. Maintain electronic records of all state reporting. Conduct bidding process and maintain contracts with outside vendors or third party businesses. Promote school mission : Consistently communicate on message about Sci High’s history, mission, and current initiatives. Support school goals through facilitation and attendance at school Open House, Back to School night, Family Orientations, and Report Card nights.

Management/Supervisory :

Responsible for managing Facilities Team, including Facilities Manager and custodial staff. Leadership Duties As a member of the Administrative Team, you are expected to participate in:

Professional Development:

Both independently and collaboratively with Admin Team, plan and implement whole faculty sessions as needed in the summer and throughout the year.

Goal-Setting:

Draft goals and action items with new and returning team members. Check in periodically with team members regarding individual and team goals and objectives.

Leadership:

Attend Administrative Team Meetings with other school leaders. Manage and coordinate the Operations Team and support learning for all stakeholders. Model school expectations for faculty and students.

Recruitment:

Recruit and attract talented staff aligned to Sci High mission, academic vision, and team values. With the feedback of the recruitment team, make hiring decisions with the principal.

Mission Alignment:

Collaborate with the principal to address school needs. Consistently communicate about Sci High’s unique history, mission, and current initiatives. Support the Sci High community as a representative of school leadership and initiate decision-making and problem solving aligned with the school’s mission and school goals. Support faculty and staff in effectively communicating and reinforcing the academic vision to all stakeholders, including students and families.

Reinforce school-wide policies as outlined in the Student Handbook with all students Additional duties as required Relevant Experience Experience with the following is required: Bachelor’s degree from a competitive college or university; master’s degree in business preferred, OR 3 years of previous operations management/ general management experience in school operations.
