Service Operations Manager Fred Williams, Inc 80 Research Road, Hingham, MA 02043 Fred Williams, an HVAC mechanical contractor, is looking for a Service Operations Manager to join our team. In this role, you will manage the Service business by providing high-quality, timely, and on-budget completion of service projects, maintenance agreements, and system repairs. By providing the best possible service to our clients, we expect to earn extensive repeat business and build a reputation that will enable our sales team to be extremely successful. Essential Job Functions Provide supervision of Service Mechanics and Apprentices to ensure maximum job performance from field labor workforce. Supervision will be a combination of field visits as required and telephone follow-up on job status. Enforce the company job and work requirements for the field labor workforce. Develop new customers and prospective accounts for the Service Department. Determine opportunities for additional service work in the form of equipment upgrades and system retrofit applications. Estimate and prepare proposals for Service and Repair work. Support Service Sales Engineers in preparing Maintenance Contact estimates and proposals. Review Maintenance Contract Inspection Reports, Service and Repair Work Orders, and Refrigerant Status Reports for accuracy and completeness of work performed. Review Maintenance Contract costs, labor hours, and requirements to ensure that the scope of work is being performed and not being exceeded. Work with the Service Coordinator for the most effective use of field labor resources based on the Service Mechanic’s technical ability and hours budgeted for maintenance activities. Work with the Service Coordinator to monitor and control cost of Service and Repair work and Service Projects through the effective use of manpower and pre-ordering initial stock for delivery to the job site. Work with the Service Coordinator to plan scheduled maintenance and determine in advance what materials, belts and filters, need to be ordered to minimize lost time. Work with the Service Coordinator to monitor and control the use and handling of refrigerants in compliance with EPA regulations. Control of shop tools and equipment through the Sign-out/Sign-in log. Increase the ability of the Service Department to provide higher level of personal customer contact through customer visits and telephone calls. Follow up with the customer after work is completed to ensure customer satisfaction. Assist in the preparation of maintenance budgets and hours forecast. Attract and recruit new Service Mechanics as needed to meet the needs of the department. Arrange training for Service Mechanics on specific equipment and products. Work with Billing to make sure invoices are sent out in a timely manner. Promote and enforce the company Safety Policies. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements 10+ years of experience in HVAC service. Must have strong knowledge of HVAC systems and have 7+ years of field experience. Proven success in service management, scheduling, estimating, budget development, and strategic planning. Possess strong analytical and conflict management skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues. Track record of strong leadership, mentoring, communication, and team-building skills. Skilled at establishing and working collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment with multiple projects and priorities. Proficiency in MS Word, COINS and Excel is preferred.
