Job Description

Position Overview:

Bicara Therapeutics is seeking a dynamic and strategic Senior Director, Total Rewards and People Operations, to lead our efforts in developing and scaling our Compensation & Benefits programs, and our People Operations.

This newly created position will play a critical role in shaping the future of the People function and will report directly to the Chief People Officer.

This individual will serve as the internal subject matter expert on total rewards and people operations, ensuring that all related programs are competitive, compliant, and aligned with Bicara’s culture and values.

This leader will build and oversee a high-performing Total Rewards and People Operations function, directly managing our Senior Associate, Human Resources.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, implement, and manage the company’s compensation philosophy, structure, and job architecture to support growth and scale.

Lead the development of a titling and pay framework that supports internal equity and external competitiveness.

Drive readiness and implementation of MA pay transparency legislation in 2025, including internal education and process updates.

Partner with external consultants and internal stakeholders to evaluate and enhance Bicara’s benefits offerings to ensure competitiveness, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with employee needs.

Collaborate with finance and executive leadership on annual compensation planning, budgeting, and equity strategy.

Support the preparation of Compensation Committee Meetings.

Develop and optimize scalable, efficient, and compliant people processes that support a growing biotech organization.

Oversee people processes, onboarding off boarding, and HR administration.

Ensure HR practices and policies comply with federal, state, and local laws in all states in which Bicara operates.

Design and drive the implementation of people metrics, leveraging HRIS and people analytics tools.

Provide strategic partnership to HRBPs, Talent Management, and Talent Acquisition.

Serve as a trusted advisor to managers and senior leadership on total rewards topics and people operations.

Mentor a high-performing Total Rewards and People Operations team, beginning with direct supervision of the Senior Associate, HR.Champion and reinforce Bicara’s culture principles through the design and execution of people programs.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or a related field.

Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in HR, with deep expertise in compensation, benefits, and HR operations.

Experience in both large and small organizations, ideally in a biotech, life sciences, or high-growth environment.

Demonstrated success in designing and implementing total rewards strategies in compliance with evolving legal requirements (e.g., pay transparency laws).Experience building a “fit-for-purpose” total reward and people operations infrastructure, in collaboration with leadership.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with high integrity, discretion, and a collaborative approach to leadership.

International experience (EU countries) is a plus.
