SHIFT:
2 nd Shift, 2 pm•12 am We are seeking a Supervisor to lead a team in the production of military and commercial rotating equipment, including steam turbines, gas turbine generator sets, and permanent magnet motors for various applications such as power generation and ship propulsion. This role operates on a 9/80 work schedule and requires availability for 2nd shift hours, from 2 PM to 12 AM.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan and prioritize daily tasks to efficiently execute the Production Plan. Identify alternative tasks to ensure productivity in case of unavailability of primary tasks. Monitor team performance and resources throughout the shift, leading problem-solving efforts when expectations are not met. Ensure the team understands performance goals and metrics. Comply with established systems, policies, and procedures. Set clear job performance expectations and evaluate team members against these standards. Manage the team budget and perform administrative tasks such as timekeeping, voucher approvals, and personnel records. Assign work responsibilities to team members and confirm their qualifications for assigned tasks. Conduct shift start-up meetings to communicate the Production Plan and clarify team member roles. Foster effective communication within the team and between shifts. Encourage collaboration and cooperation among shifts and departments. Provide end-of-shift summaries detailing actions, issues, and task statuses. Ensure a safe and clean work environment, monitoring team members and visitors. Drive continuous improvement through team-based problem-solving and empowerment at the team level. Coach, mentor, and provide feedback to help team members excel in their roles. Keep accurate records of team member qualifications using the versatility matrix and maintain training documentation. Support team members in achieving necessary qualifications. Collaborate with employees to create and implement individual growth plans. Maintain appropriate staffing levels through the selection, orientation, and training of team members. Develop a cohesive approach to achieving departmental objectives. Address personnel issues fairly and consistently, including time and attendance matters. Analyze team performance metrics to identify root causes of any shortfalls and initiate corrective actions. Promote a culture focused on customer awareness and ownership of delivery.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or an equivalent combination of an Associate’s degree in a technical discipline with 5+ years of manufacturing experience. Must be a U.S. citizen. Strong interpersonal, leadership, planning, and communication abilities. Flexibility to work beyond scheduled shifts as needed. Knowledge of industry standards (e.g., ISO). Familiarity with Industrial Engineering concepts and 5S/6S methodologies. Experience in Navy Nuclear or Shipyard environments is a plus. Knowledge of Controlled Work Packages is preferred. Prior experience in motor manufacturing is highly desirable. Mechanical assembly experience is valued.
