Job Description

Operations Supervisor 4.0 4.0 out of 5 stars Oakfield, ME We are currently seeking applicants for the position of Operations Supervisor to join our team with Maine Northern Railway. Direct Supervision of Train Crews. Accountable for crew safety performance including reporting on incidents; performing or assisting in investigations; and implementing corrective actions as required. Meet Company expectations around completion of crew meetings, job observations, toolbox talks, safety training, efficiency tests, employee check-ins and other tasks as assigned. Responsible for crew scheduling including approval of operating plan changes and time off for employees. Work with crews to ensure the effective execution of daily plans, while following all railroad and Company rules and regulations. Provide coaching, guidance, positive recognition, and formal progressive disciplines to Train Crews as required. In cooperation with Road Foreman, ensure crews assigned to work are trained to perform work. Personally, signoff on employee trainees to deem them competent on jobs personally qualified for, or coordinate with a competent trainer for signoff if not qualified in the job. Provide clear and concise updates to senior management. Coordinate with customers and other railways to ensure the smooth and timely flow of freight across MNR network. Work seamlessly with the MNR planners. Be the primary contact with MNR for coordination of mechanical and MOW activities on MNR. Participate in Leadership Development Programs and courses. Proven track record of being reliable, working efficiently and demonstrating positive leadership skills required. Other duties as assigned. Valid CROR “A” Card is preferred. Candidate with experience as a certified conductor is mandatory. Experience as a Locomotive Engineer is preferred. Operations experience within MNR is an asset. Excellent communication and leadership skills is mandatory. Able to effectively lead change initiatives within a team that includes subordinates and peers from other departments. Possess a high commitment to customer service and on improving safety culture within the railway. Self-starter with sense of urgency. Able to make decisions within the confines of their authority. Basic computer skills.

Ex:

Ability to communicate through email, track employee hours, write letters and utilize other software packages as necessary. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Normal hours are daytime hours Mon-Fri but must be flexible to adjust hours as necessary to accommodate job duties such as responding to incidents, providing periodic crew observations or crew meetings, etc. Passport and ability to travel within Canada is preferred.
