New England Cancer Specialists (NECS) is currently seeking a Supervisor of Pharmacy Operations for our Westbrook location. The Supervisor of Pharmacy Operations is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the pharmacy and managing medication inventory to ensure the highest standards of safety, compliance, and efficiency. This position plays a key leadership role in training, supervising, and supporting pharmacy technicians while maintaining optimal inventory levels to meet patient care needs NECS is a private medical practice composed of 18 oncologists and hematologists serving the region from 5 different locations in Maine and New Hampshire. Responsibilities:
+ Plans, organizes, and supervises all functions of the pharmacy. + Ensures proper preparation, distribution and storage of medications in conformance with legal regulations, accrediting body standards, and NECS Policy and Procedures. + Supervises, mentors, and evaluates pharmacy technicians to ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and best practices. + Create work schedules, assign tasks, and ensure adequate staffing levels to maintain operational efficiency. + Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that promotes accountability, continuous improvement, professional growth, and team cohesion. + Conducts performance reviews, provides constructive feedback, and implements corrective actions when necessary. + Oversees all appropriate guidelines for the preparation of compound sterile products per NECS Policy and Procedures, and ensures pharmacy is compliant with USP 797 and 800 standards. + Oversees medication procurement, storage, and distribution to maintain accurate inventory levels and prevent shortages or overstock. + Manages medication ordering, receiving, and returns while optimizing inventory turnover and minimizing waste. + Monitors expiration dates and unused medication inventory and takes appropriate action to mitigate risk and waste. + Collaborates with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to anticipate medication needs and ensure uninterrupted patient care. + Maintains the medication formulary in the inventory management system. + Develops and refines workflows and processes to ensure smooth pharmacy operations and reduce inefficiencies.
Travel:
Periodic travel to our other locations may be needed for coverage and vacation purposes
Weekend:
Participation in the weekend urgent care clinic rotation is mandatory, 1 day per month.
Required Experience:
+ An associate’s degree is required. + At least 5 years’ experience (or combination of education and experience) as a pharmacy technician; leadership experience is preferred + National pharmacy technician certification is required. (PTCB) + At least one year of experience (or combination of education and experience) as a pharmacy technician. + Must have demonstrated IV admixture skills and abilities. + Eligible for state registration, certification, or licensure per state regulation. + Has strong experience working in an EMR or EHR + Experience in Chemotherapy and Biotherapy is preferred.
