SUMMARY:
The Senior Operations Manager will assist the Plant Manager by leading the operations and sanitation teams and providing operational oversight for production and operating related activities at this location. They will also partner with their peers in other departments within the facility (HR, FSQA, Maintenance, etc.) to ensure that all products are produced in a cost-effective manner and that they meet all regulatory, safety and quality standards/requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Drive safety culture at the site with a safety-first mindset. Lead and manage the day-to-day plant operations for production and sanitation. Partner with others to ensure all products are made to specifications. Coordinate production activities and influence maintenance through planning with other departmental managers to ensure production objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner in concert with the plant manager. Contribute to developing cost-effective systems of control over capital, operating expenditures, manpower, and input costs for production. Establish performance standards and monitor overall production performance to meet short, medium, and long term financial objectives. Develop and implement a plant that maintains and/or improves existing plant facilities and equipment. Work with the maintenance manager to implement and maintain preventative maintenance programs for production equipment. Provide direction, development and leadership to production Managers, Supervisors, and Leads that ensures an environment of accountability exists and that the facility has the talent needed to grow the business. Understands lean principles and uses Continuous Improvement tools to increase production, asset capacity and flexibility while minimizing costs and maintaining quality standards.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervisory responsibilities include developing production and sanitation leaders to effectively lead their teams. This includes planning, assigning, and directing production work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred; and 10+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to effectively communicate in English including reading, writing, and speaking. Ability to read and write reports and business correspondence. Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, candidates, and the public.
PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS
Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations. Ability to analyze performance metrics and data to identify areas for improvement and optimize processes.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to address operational issues, identify root causes, and implement solutions to improve operations. Ability to operate ethically to protect the interests of the company and its employees.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Basic computer skills and knowledge of standard programs including but not limited to: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint. Will be responsible for navigating and understanding operational aspects of the company’s ERP system (M3). Must be adaptable to change, organized, able to work in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills and a professional demeanor.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Lift 50 lbs. occasionally. Must be able to efficiently and effectively move to all areas of production. Must be able to climb ladders or platforms. Must be able to wear all safety and production-related equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work environment varies from an office setting, production floor and outside climate conditations, based on the situation. While on the production floor will be exposed to moving mechanical parts and to wet, cold and/or humid conditions as well as loud noises (above 85 dBA). Hearing protection and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required when on the production floor. Must be able to follow all GMP’s while on the production floor.
NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE
The hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management. Must be available to work as scheduled.
