The pay range being offered is $130
- $145k per year. This position follows a schedule on Monday
- Friday, 7 am
- 3:30 pm, with occasional weekends as needed.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a Director of Shipyard Operations to oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of all shipyard activities related to the repair and maintenance of inland barges and boats. This role is responsible for managing all operations and adherence to safety, quality, and environmental standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, strategic planning, and technical expertise to manage a dynamic and fast-paced shipyard environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Direct all day-to-day shipyard operations, including repair, maintenance, and retrofitting of inland barges and boats. Develop and implement operational strategies to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service quality. Monitor project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery of services. Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. Recruit, train, and retain skilled personnel to meet operational demands. Ensure compliance with all applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory standards, including USCG, and OSHA regulations. Implement and enforce safety protocols to maintain a zero-incident workplace. Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify and address risks. Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, addressing inquiries, concerns, and project updates. Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies. Collaborate with the sales and business development teams to grow the shipyard’s service offerings. Develop and manage budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources and maximizing profitability. Track financial performance and implement corrective actions as needed to achieve business goals. Identify opportunities for revenue growth and cost reduction. Develop long-term strategies for expanding shipyard capabilities and market presence. Evaluate emerging technologies and best practices to maintain a competitive edge. Lead initiatives to enhance the shipyard’s infrastructure and operational capacity.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 10 years of leadership experience in shipyard operations or a related maritime industry, with a focus on inland barge and boat repairs. Strong knowledge of vessel repair processes, materials, and equipment. Proven ability to manage complex projects and multidisciplinary teams. Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills. Proficiency in financial management, budgeting, and strategic planning. OSHA required. Must be able to work in all weather conditions. Relevant certifications in safety, project management, or maritime operations are preferred.
Physical Requirements:
This position involves regular physical activity, including: Standing for prolonged periods. Frequent bending, kneeling, and crouching. Pushing and pulling heavy objects. Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
