Overview
About the
Role:
Provide day to day oversight of marine terminal and vessel operations, with the objective of continuously improving operational efficiency, safety and effectiveness to support GSM’s business objectives and growth.
Qualifications
What You’ll Need:
10+ years of stevedoring and marine terminal operations experience with a minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience
Bachelor’s degree from Maritime Academy in Maritime Administration or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred but not required
Proven experience leading teams through change, fostering a cooperative work environment and motivating others to drive continuous improvement.
Decisive individual who possesses a strong operational focus
Exceptional problem-solving skills
A passion for managing teams to success
Must possess a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card
Spanish language skills a plus
What is the
Working Condition:
Position does require exposure to outdoors, including extreme heat, rain, wind and high humidity during day and night shifts
Employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, climb, bend forward, squat, twist, pinch and reach overhead
Employee is frequently required to work at heights and in confined spaces
Employee may be exposed to dust, fumes and airborne particles
Employee is exposed to a moderate to high noise level
Local and nonlocal travel may be required
Must be available beyond standard office hours to include holidays, nights and weekends based on operational need
Responsibilities
What You’ll Do:
Provide regular and focused management of the terminal and vessel operations, consistent with the Company’s operating principles. Evaluate and adjust operations accordingly to varying market or customer needs
Ensure the organization’s commitment to safety and quality standards are at the forefront of daily operations
Maintain regular contact with peer customer relationships and calibrate operations, accordingly
Responsible for oversight of performance management and personnel actions involving front line human capital
Develop the supervisory skills of the superintendent, supervisor and foremen incumbents
