About our opportunity:

The City of Asheville is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Temp/Seasonal Guest Services Coordinator in the Community and Regional Entertainment Facilities department. The WNC Nature Center is one of the City’s most beloved attractions, providing educational, conservation, and recreational experiences for visitors of all ages. This position plays a key role in ensuring excellent guest services, smooth front desk operations, and successful implementation of field trips and special events. What you’ll be doing: Supervise, schedule, and train front desk staff to ensure excellent visitor experiences. Assist with interviews, onboarding, and performance feedback for temporary staff. Coordinate and perform customer service functions including answering guest questions, resolving complaints, and directing guests. Oversee cash handling and point-of-sale operations, including preparing deposits and reconciling transactions. Schedule, organize, and coordinate field trips with schools and groups, including calculating fees and staffing. Maintain accurate membership, attendance, and ticketing data across various platforms. Support educational programming and special events including birthday parties and group tours. Monitor and track budget spending for staffing and supply needs, and process purchasing documentation. Assist with opening and closing duties, emergency procedures, and timesheet review. Maintain communication with staff, volunteers, and leadership to ensure daily operations run smoothly.

 $24.76/hour About you: We know your time is valuable. Applicants who meet the following minimum requirements or have comparable experience and/or education will be considered: Five years of experience in customer service or a related field plus a High School Diploma/GED, OR Three years of experience in customer service or a related field plus an Associate’s Degree in Business, Biology, Animal Science, or a related field.

Performance aptitudes:

Ability to lead a team and manage shifting priorities in a busy environment. Strong verbal communication and problem-solving skills. Comfortable using technology including POS systems, ticketing platforms, spreadsheets, and email.

Physical requirements:

Must be able to stand for extended periods, walk across varied terrain, and lift up to 25 lbs. May be exposed to outdoor weather conditions and large crowds. Persons of all genders and races are encouraged to apply.
