Operations Supervisor – Traffic Field Operations City of Winston-Salem – 3.7 Winston-Salem, NC Job Details Full-time $67,089 a year 2 days ago Qualifications CDL A Mid-level Driver’s License Full Job Description JOB Performs difficult administrative and skilled technical work including, but not limited to: supervising and coordinating the work of subordinate supervisors over field crews engaged in the construction and maintenance of street and drainage related facilities; receives and prioritizes service requests and work orders from upper management and the public; distributes workload to section supervisors; prepares and checks work records and/or reports; oversees routine field operations and performs related work as apparent or assigned.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Plans and discusses daily schedules and assignments with subordinate section supervisors.
Prepares and/or reviews construction cost estimates;Requisitions materials and equipment and monitors inventory;Inspects projects to ensure the proper utilization of staff and equipment;Maintains daily work records and prepares monthly/quarterly progress reports (e.g. CityWorks work orders, open measures, etc.;Processes accident reports;Distributes workload to section supervisors and follows-up to ensure the timely performance of quality work;Processes employee concerns and problems (trains, counsels, and disciplines as appropriate) along with completing employee appraisals;Oversees routine field operations, responds to emergencies, coordinates/manages snow and ice control operations, addresses complaints/concerns from the public, etc. Performs other duties and related work as required.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force; work regularly requires standing, walking, sitting, speaking or hearing, tasting or smelling and repetitive motions, frequently requires using hands to finger, handle, or feel and reaching with hands and arms and occasionally requires climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, pushing or pulling and lifting; work has standard vision requirements, vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, using of measuring devices, assembly or fabrication of parts within arm’s length, operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work regularly requires exposure to wet humid conditions (non-weather) and occasionally requires working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, exposure to outdoor weather conditions, exposure to extreme cold (non-weather), exposure to extreme heat (non-weather), exposure to the risk of electrical shock and exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Possession of a valid North Carolina driver’s license required. Possession of a valid North Carolina Class A CDL preferred. Ability to work 12-hour shifts, 7 days a week as needed for projects and/or in response to adverse conditions (e.g. snow, ice, flooding, etc.) Ability to work in an office environment and an outdoor environment with exposure to changing/adverse weather and terrain.
