Job Description

Job Summary:

The Supervisor of Pharmacy Operations position helps to participate in, direct, and supervise the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy department related to medication preparation and distribution and other pharmacy supported services. The Supervisor of Pharmacy Operations assigns duties and tasks to employees; monitors workload and makes appropriate adjustment to achieve patient care goals; creates and monitors work schedule to ensure adequate staffing. Additionally, the Supervisor of Pharmacy Operations facilitates pharmacy technician meetings and other department-initiated communication such as shift huddles and safety huddles. Ensure staff accountability with policies and procedures; monitors and identifies opportunities for department and personnel performance improvement; conducts 1 on 1 meetings with team, documenting progress, motivating, and corrective action, if needed.

Qualifications:

Completion of 12th grade (high school or equivalent). Minimum of 3 years of pharmacy technician experience working in an inpatient pharmacy required, or, 2 years of pharmacy technician experience working in an inpatient pharmacy and 2 years of supervisory experience. Two years sterile compounding experience required; 1 year chemotherapy sterile compounding experience preferred. Registration with the NC Board of Pharmacy required within 30 days of hire. Active Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) required. Sterile compounding certification (CPST) required with 90 days of hire. Demonstrated ability to develop training materials and train new employees on proper processes. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, decision making abilities, computer (Excel, Word, Outlook) experience, and thorough knowledge of hospital pharmacy operations required.
