JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the President and CEO, the Director of Operations and Programs is responsible for the strategic oversight of all house and program operations, facility management, guest services activities, volunteer programs and other RMHC operated programs. Additionally, the Director of Operations and Programs will participate in “on-call” responsibilities to handle any emergencies that may occur from Monday through Thursday. The Director also provides emergency support and backup to RMHC-ENC’s Guest Services Associates. This position supervises, evaluates and provides guidance to program and operations staff.
HOUSE OPERATIONS
: 1. Responsible for oversight of all House operations and guest-related activities. Enforces rules and policies of the Ronald McDonald House with respect to guest families and House staff. 2. Ensures that short- and long-term plans and budgets are in place for facility maintenance and improvements. 3. Oversees relationships with hospitals, social service agencies, referral sources, and House vendors. Supervises the management of referral procedures with social workers and case managers, insurance companies and other referral agencies regarding eligibility guidelines, prioritization of cases, and confirmation instructions. 4. Maintains safety and security policies and procedures. Understands and implements emergency procedures when necessary and has a continued awareness of situations that may have emergency potential. 5. Oversees facility-related projects. Develops and maintains project guidelines. Identifies and communicates specific project needs to affected groups and audiences. 6. Drafts new or revised operational procedures, forms, and manuals as needed.
FAMILY AND VOLUNTEER SERVICES
1. Develops and monitors annual budget to support all aspects of guest programs and volunteer services. 2. Provides ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of guest programs and volunteer services. Identifies new and changing needs; recommends strategies for addressing new issues. 3. Assures the development of systematic processes, policies, and procedures to support effective delivery of family programs and volunteer services. 4. Oversees the maintenance of records and data relative to the management and administration of guest programs and volunteer services. 5. Plans, directs, and coordinates activities to ensure that goals or objectives are accomplished within prescribed time frames and funding parameters. 6. Reviews progress on program development and modifies schedules or plans as required.
OTHER DUTIES
1. Provides on-call support to Guest Service Associates as needed. 2. Assists with front office coverage as needed. 3. Attends Board and committee meetings and presents on pre-determined topics. 4. Promotes a positive image of the Ronald McDonald House through exceptional communications, behavior and a professional attitude. 5. Assists with Development and House special events and activities as needed. 6. Demonstrates willingness to work as part of a team and assists co-workers in other organizational and program work as needed or required. 7. Performs other miscellaneous duties and functions as may be assigned by the President and CEO to support and further the mission of
RMHC-ENC. QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent course work/training from an accredited college or university in human services, health sciences, administration, or related field. 2. Minimum five (5) years progressively responsible experience in these fields, and minimum three (3) years management or supervisory experience. 3. Demonstrated critical thinking skills; resourcefulness; good judgment and decision-making ability in a high-energy environment. 4. Excellent time management, organizational, and planning skills with ability to prioritize and multi-task. 5. Proficiency with Microsoft 365. 6. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds. 7. Available to work Monday through Friday, 8AM – 5PM, in addition to evenings and weekends as required. 8. Valid driver’s license and clean driver’s record for the operation of House vehicles. 9.
