Job Description

Operations Manager 3.6 3.6 out of 5 stars Liberty, NC 27298 SUMMARY This position serves as the Operational Manager at Green Metals Battery Innovations (GMBI), a joint venture with Toyota Tsusho America. The Operational Manager will play a significant role in overseeing the daily operations of the plant, ensuring that processes are efficient, safe, and compliant with quality standards. This role will work closely with the Plant Manager and cross-functional teams to implement operational strategies that align with GMBI’s mission of recycling electric vehicle (EV) batteries and producing sustainable secondary raw materials. The Operational Manager will foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence throughout the facility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operational Oversite:

Collaborate with the Plant Manager to develop and implement operational standards, processes, and procedures that enhance plant efficiency and effectiveness. Monitor daily operations to ensure adherence to production schedules and quality benchmarks

Staff Management:

Train, supervise plant employees, including productions workers and supervisors, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment. Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and development opportunities for employees.

Production Planning and Scheduling:

Assist in creating and adjusting production schedules based on customer demand, resource availability, and operational capacity. Optimize resource utilization to meet production targets while minimizing downtime

Quality Assurance:

Implement and maintain rigorous quality control measures to ensure that products meet both company and regulatory specifications. Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify and address areas for improvement.

Process Improvement:

Identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements to enhance operational processes, reduce waste, and increase productivity. Lead continuous improvement initiatives, including Kaizen events and best practice implementation.

Safety and Compliance:

Promote a culture of safety by ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and conducting regular safety training sessions. Collaborate with EHS specialists to develop and implement safety protocols and environmental standards.

Inventory and Supply Chain Management:

Oversee inventory levels of raw materials and finished products to ensure optimal stock levels while minimizing excess. Coordinate with the supply chain team to ensure timely procurement and delivery of materials.

Reporting and Analysis:

Prepare and present reports on operational performance metrics, including production efficiency and quality indicators, to upper management. Utilize data analysis to inform decision-making and operational strategies.

Cross-Department Collaboration:

Work closely with other departments, such as engineering, quality assurance, and sales, to align operational activities with overall company objectives. Engage with customers as needed to understand their requirements and ensure production meets expectations.

Sustainability Initiatives:

Champion sustainable practices within the plant to minimize environmental impact and promote corporate social responsibility.

Problem-Solving and Decision-Making:

Utilize strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address operational challenges and implement effective solutions. EDUCATION and/or

EXPERIENCE A

bachelor’s degree in engineering, chemistry, electrical, or a related field is preferred. A minimum of (7) years of experience operations management, preferably in either Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, or battery related manufacturing and/or recycling disciplines is required Relevant certifications in operations management, safety or quality assurance are a plus

COMPUTER SKILLS

Full knowledge and operations of office suite

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must have the ability to write legibly, read and comprehend complex instructions, regulations, correspondence, and memos. Must have the ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and large group situations to customers, clients, within the organization, and the public.

Posses strong logical thinking abilities and problem-solving skills, enabling to analyze complex situations, identify root causes of issue, and develop effective solutions to enhance operational efficiency.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those encountered while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in an open office environment as well as on the operations floor near moving mechanical parts, in outside weather conditions, and is may be exposed to wet, humid, extreme cold, and extreme heat conditions. Exposure risk may exist but proper PPE and separation from such areas will be strictly implemented. The employee will be required to wear safety shoes, safety glasses, and protective clothing, gloves, hard hats, and respirators as specified in the various processes and/or instructions.
