Position Overview:

A leading Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) provider is seeking an experienced General Manager to oversee its Aircraft Painting Department. This position is responsible for ensuring operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and customer satisfaction while leading a team of technical professionals. The ideal candidate will bring strategic leadership, technical expertise in aircraft painting, and a strong commitment to safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership
Oversee daily operations of the aircraft painting facility, ensuring adherence to regulations and company standards.
Develop and implement processes to optimize workflow, reduce turnaround times, and maintain high-quality outputs.
Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless integration of painting services within the broader MRO operations.
Regulatory Compliance
Ensure all painting activities comply with FAA regulations, including proper documentation and certification processes.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes and implement necessary adjustments to departmental procedures.
Oversee audits and inspections, addressing any findings promptly and effectively.
Team Management
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of technicians, supervisors, and support staff, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide training opportunities to enhance team capabilities.
Ensure adequate staffing levels to meet operational demands and maintain flexibility for fluctuating workloads.
Forecast manpower needs and collaborate with HR to recruit, onboard, and retain qualified personnel.
Financial Oversight
Develop and manage the department’s budget, monitoring expenses and implementing cost-control measures.
Analyze financial reports to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to enhance profitability.
Customer Engagement
Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to understand client needs and ensure satisfaction with painting services.
Address customer concerns promptly and implement feedback to improve service quality.

Proficiency in budgeting and financial analysis.
Ability to analyze complex situations and develop effective solutions.
Working Conditions
Primarily based in an aircraft hangar environment with exposure to paint fumes and noise.
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
May require occasional travel for training or industry events.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience:

Minimum of 7 years in aircraft maintenance or painting operations, with at least 3 years in a managerial role within a Part 145 repair station.

Certifications:

FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license preferred.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and able to provide two forms of federal identification.
Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a comprehensive background screening, including verification of prior employment, education, criminal history, and other factors relevant to position eligibility.
This is a safety-sensitive position subject to FAA-mandated drug and alcohol testing, including pre-employment and random testing requirements
