Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and dependable Drilling and Blasting Supervisor to oversee daily field operations across multiple active construction sites in North Carolina. This position is responsible for leading drilling and blasting crews, ensuring safety compliance, executing blast plans, and coordinating with clients and general contractors.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and coordinate daily activities of drilling and blasting crews on active job sites Ensure all operations comply with federal, state, and local regulations, safety standards, and company protocols Interpret blasting plans, layout blast patterns, and oversee drill hole alignment, depth, and spacing Schedule and lead blast events, including site preparation, traffic/pedestrian control, and post-blast inspections Communicate effectively with clients, site managers, inspectors, and internal project managers Maintain accurate records of footage drilled, powder factor, blast reports, seismograph readings, and other project data Manage logistics of explosives delivery, storage, and handling in accordance with ATF and DOT guidelines Train and mentor field personnel to uphold safety and productivity standards Coordinate with rock crushing and material processing crews where applicable
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of experience in construction drilling and blasting, with 2+ years in a supervisory or lead role Familiarity with drill rig operation (Top Hammer and Down-the-Hole rigs preferred) Proficient in reading construction plans and interpreting blast layouts Strong understanding of seismograph setup, data interpretation, and vibration control Must be organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple job sites Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel regionally as needed Must pass pre-employment background check and drug screening
Preferred Qualifications:
OSHA 30 or MSHA training certification Prior experience managing multiple projects or crews Strong communication and leadership skills in a field-based setting
