The Operations Manager is responsible for leading our fleet and warehouse operations in Raleigh and Asheville, North Carolina. This role ensures safe, efficient, and high-performing daily workflows across our residential, commercial, and product services. The Operations Manager directly supports and develops our operational supervisors—fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and care—while equipping fleet drivers and warehouse team members with the tools, training, and clarity they need to succeed. We’re looking for someone who doesn’t hesitate to get their hands dirty; someone who values knowing how to do every task within the operations they oversee and leads by example on the ground. Collaborate cross-functionally with internal departments (support, people operations) and community partners and vendors. Drive market performance and execute successfully on the company’s operational plan; owns the missteps and successes of the market. People Management Directly manage (~2) Operations Supervisors and (~12-16) team members, and indirectly oversee (~2) shift leads and (~18) team members. Understand the importance of each team member knowing what is expected of them, having the tools/resources to do the work, and knowing how well they are doing. Conduct check-ins and engage team members to identify needs and opportunities. Lead onboarding for new hires; ensure all new operations employees are trained, equipped, and set up in necessary systems. Partner with People Ops to support recruitment, hiring, and compliance tasks (e.g., e-Verify, benefits, system access). Provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and documentation when needed. Create and manage schedules across multiple functions (Sprinter, Heavy, Onsite). Ensure appropriate labor distribution and time off coverage. Step in to support shifts when needed. Operational Systems Drive efficient execution of day-to-day operations by ensuring team adoption of tools, processes, and best practices. Monitor and improve operational systems across all logistics modes through proactive structural and process improvements. Look ahead (one to three months) in order to anticipate operational needs beyond the day-to-day by planning ahead for seasonal shifts and other changes, drawing on SOPs, team insights, known challenges, and best practices. Maintain and own up-to-date SOPs as a living resource; verify systems and processes are being followed correctly and are compliant with company policies, laws, and other regulations. Resources, Equipment, & Facilities Ensure every team member has the supplies, tools, and training necessary to do their job. Maintain and manage inventory systems for tools, PPE, wearables, and supplies. Oversee preventive maintenance schedules, repairs, and equipment monitoring. Ensure safety procedures are followed and hazards promptly addressed. Manage facility cleanliness, organization, layout, and access controls.
