Full Job Description Job Summary:
Supports the Logistics Manager and Delivery Manager in overseeing the efficient and effective operation of all back-of-house logistics for our catering events. This position acts as the primary point of contact and decision-maker during weekend events and operations, requiring a broad understanding of delivery, event logistics, kitchen coordination, and warehouse management. The ideal candidate is a highly organized, proactive, and experienced individual with strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proven track record in a fast-paced, event-driven environment. This role requires a Thursday-Monday schedule to provide dedicated weekend management.
Responsibilities:
Logistics and Delivery Management Support:
Assist the Logistics Manager in planning, coordinating, and executing all logistical aspects of catering events. oSupport the Delivery Manager in overseeing delivery operations, including driver coordination, route planning, and on-time delivery. Contribute to the development and implementation of efficient logistics workflows and procedures.
Weekend Management:
Serve as the primary on-site manager for all back-of-house operations (Delivery, Events, Kitchen, and Warehouse) during weekend events (Thursday-Monday schedule). oOversee and coordinate staff activities during weekend events, ensuring smooth execution of all logistical functions. Make independent decisions to address and resolve any logistical challenges or issues that arise during weekend events. Act as the main point of contact for event staff, vendors, and clients during weekend events.
Back-of-House Operations Oversight:
Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of all back-of-house operations, including: Delivery logistics: route planning, vehicle management, driver coordination.
Event logistics:
loadout planning, equipment staging, onsite setup/breakdown.
Kitchen coordination:
communication with kitchen staff, food preparation timelines, hot food handling.
Warehouse management:
inventory control, resource organization, equipment maintenance. Ensure seamless communication and collaboration between all back-of-house teams.
Problem Solving and Issue Resolution:
Proactively identify and address potential logistical challenges before, during, and after events. oRespond quickly and effectively to any on-site issues or emergencies, implementing solutions to minimize disruptions. Document and report any significant logistical problems or incidents to the Logistics Manager.
Resource and Inventory Management:
Assist in managing inventory levels of all event-related resources, including food, beverages, equipment, and supplies. oSupport the procurement process for paper goods, plastics, and other necessary items. Ensure the proper handling, storage, and maintenance of all equipment and resources.
Safety and Compliance:
Enforce all safety regulations and procedures within the warehouse, during deliveries, and at event sites. oEnsure compliance with food safety standards and regulations. Monitor the condition of delivery of vehicles and equipment, reporting any maintenance needs.
Qualifications:
Proven experience of logistics, catering, event management, or a related field, with increasing responsibility. Demonstrated leadership skills and experience in supervising or coordinating teams. Strong understanding of backofhouse catering operations, including delivery, event logistics, kitchen coordination, and warehouse management. Excellent organizational, timemanagement, and problemsolving skills. Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a fastpaced, eventdriven environment. Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in using catering management software (e.g., CaterWorks) and other relevant technology. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays (specifically Thursday Monday). Ability to lift and move heavy objects (e.g., boxes, equipment) as needed. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
Formal training or certification in logistics, supply chain management, or event management. Experience in managing onsite event logistics and troubleshooting.
