Essential Job Duties The temporary Wood Program Manager position is a unique opportunity.
It requires:
a passion for the artistry and fine craft of woodworking; a high level of knowledge and technical skill; and
a strong degree of responsibility and accountability regarding general administrative and management duties. Additionally, the Wood Program Manager must be a “people person”
who enjoys working with students, instructors, patrons, colleagues, and guild members within the context of a major R1 university setting. Is Time Limited Yes

Other Work/Responsibilities
PRIMARY DUTIES AND SKILLS
Provide technical instruction, supervision, and management for studio users and class participants
Develop and enforce usage protocols pertaining to the tools, equipment, processes, and procedures used routinely in the wood studio
Ensure that class materials and equipment are available and in working order
Provide technical/operational assistance to support academic programming and individual students’ needs
Support the woodworking guild with regular events at the Crafts Center
Actively manage and maintain all safety requirements for equipment and general practices within the studio
Provide student orientations, technical guidance, and feedback
Provide consistent leadership and proper training of student studio attendants and contracted instructors
Maintain equipment, tools and overall studio condition in order to create a safe working environment
Maintain OSHA Material Data Safety requirements
Ensure that work spaces are properly prepared for classes and restored once class has been completed
Communicate clearly and professionally both orally and in writing
Serve as a complete team player: accountable, ethical, responsive, and professional
Provide active on-the-floor leadership in a busy studio environment
Be accountable and responsive to requests, deadlines and needs of colleagues, students, patrons, and instructors
Maintain a positive, professional and respectful attitude at all times Minimum Experience/Education Bachelors degree Department Required Skills Knowledge of all wood studio processes, procedures including tool and equipment maintenance, woodworking techniques, and safety measures. Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education 2+ years experience in woodworking, using standard equipment and techniques, including:
Milling operations with Jointer and Planer
Tablesaw (Sawstop)
Bandsaw
Routers and router table
Woodturning lathe
General Tool Maintenance Required License or Certification N/A Valid NC Driver’s License required? No
Commercial Driver’s License Required? No
