The EWR General Manager will ensure UGE employees keep safety, customer care, reliability and efficiency in the forefront of service delivery while meeting or exceeding all safety, quality, and compliance standards established by United Ground Express, United Airlines, and other regulatory authorities. How you will make an impact: Provides guidance to the Assistant General Managers to lead the Hub team in achieving operational performance goals within a safe and caring environment. Assumes overall responsibility for ensuring the Hub maintains proper staffing levels while delivering a superior level of customer service. Works collaboratively with the Hub Leadership Team to build and maintain a positive work culture, solid employee relations, and collaborative relationships with both internal and external business stakeholders. Accountable for internal/external audits, financial reporting, budgeting, maintaining records of employee injuries, incidents, accidents as well as compliance with all regulatory agency rules and regulations pertaining to our operation. Proactively solicits customer feedback to make service improvements and exceed expectations. Demonstrates a calm demeanor during periods of operational challenges driven by irregular operations or very high volumes. Monitors station performance metrics and work collaboratively with UGE’s leadership team to achieve or exceed performance goals. Collaborates with Hub stakeholders (Training, HR, Recruiting, & operational team) to ensure all employees are properly onboarded, trained and understand their job duties. Ensures the Hub operates in a safe, caring, dependable and efficient manner. Performs other duties as assigned What you will bring:
Required Experience, Qualifications & Skills:
College Degree or equivalent work experience Strong knowledge of Cabin Cleaning and Security search operations Specific experience in leading Cabin Cleaning/Security search functions and other lines of service typically provided by Ground Handling service providers Demonstrated experience managing a large operation, preferably in an airline environment Demonstrated experience working with a Union represented work group preferred Ability to work independently in a dynamic, fast paced operation Analytical thinking, goal-directed leadership and service-oriented performance Strong communication and interpersonal skills Strong problem solving, organizational and planning skills Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and coach others Must possess and maintain a valid US state driver’s license. (Suspended, expired, revoked or denied licenses are not valid.) Flexible schedule availability to oversee a 24 hour a day 7 days per week operation including weekends and holidays MS Office applications Seven (7) years of leadership experience with direct responsibility for managing a customer service operation Extensive knowledge of airline business partner services, including cabin cleaning/security search, wheelchair services, etc. The successful candidate is expected to live in the EWR area. Relocation assistance is available.
Preferred Experience, Qualifications & Skills:
Leadership experience with a Ground Handling services company at the manager level or higher Experience working with a Union represented work group preferred Experience working with operational programs such as AvTech, Inform – Real Time Stands, and other like tools Knowledge of Airport Operations operating environment
