The purpose of this position is to provide leadership and oversight to the US tax team to ensure reporting and compliance deliverables are accurate and timely as well supporting the Head of Tax Advisory in global, strategic and transformative initiatives, and tax due diligence on any business opportunities. This position reports to the Controller. Responsibilities Lead coordination of accounting for income taxes with the auditors on IFRS, GAAP, SII and Statutory reporting.
Provide support to the HTA relative to global strategic and transformation initiatives
Lead the implementation of tax technology solutions to enhance tax reporting and compliance efficiency
Manage the preparation and review of tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
Manage the Quarterly Tax Forecast and Annual PLAN tax process.
Collaborate with HTA in maintaining the Company’s relationship with regulatory bodies, including stakeholders, CFO, MRAG Head of Global Tax, on any specific findings.
Manage the preparation and review of federal, state, and local tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
Develop an educational program to ensure that the broader finance and executive team understand the Tax reform implications
Communicate tax strategy and implications to stakeholders, including the board of directors, senior management, and shareholders
Manage federal, state, and local tax audits and implement corrective actions if necessary
Manage and drive and Pillar II tax reporting for US entities under the MRAG accounting tax guidelines.
Manage federal quarterly tax estimates to the IRS and intercompany tax settlements within the US tax group.
Inform senior management and accounting staff on current tax issues including potential Tax Reform and related impacts to the company.
Manage and ensure that appropriate internal controls are in place over accounting for income taxes. Sign off on tax internal controls to senior leadership. Qualifications Accounting degree with CPA, master’s degree (MS tax or MBA preferred)
15+ years tax experience, including at least 15 years in a public accounting firm or corporate tax department within the Insurance industry
Proven work experience as a head of tax service department or as head of tax with the experience of managing multinational companies
Excellent knowledge of tax accounting, tax planning, tax compliance and all types of tax returns.
Experience with US federal and state corporate tax and Sales tax compliance
Strong analytical thinking and writing skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Proven ability to conduct thorough tax research and apply accounting rules, tax laws, regulations, rulings, and court decisions.
Ability to balance strategic thinking with operational leadership
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience in a fast moving, high growth environment with the ability to react quickly to unexpected challenges and opportunities
Good business sense and ability to generate insightful analysis
Strong oral and written communication skills, with ability to communicate complex subject matter to leadership, peers and other levels in the company without a tax background
Extremely well organized and able to manage work requirements to meet reporting deadlines The Company is open to considering candidates in Princeton, NJ. The salary range posted below applies to the Company’s Princeton location.
The base salary range anticipated for this position is $230,000 – $300,000 plus opportunity for company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay. In addition, the company makes available a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, 401k match, retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO). The salary estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for candidates hired in this position in Princeton. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role. Most candidates will start in the bottom half of the range.
