Job Summary:
The Senior Manager, ContractStrategy is responsible for contributing to achieving customer andorganization satisfaction relevant to providing expertise to thedevelopment and maintenance of contracts (short and long term) forall customer types within all targeted business channels of Sun inthe US. In addition, this position is responsible for thenegotiation process, creating and developing contracts and contracttemplates for critical large and/or complex customers. Thisposition is responsible for the contract redline process andserving as a liaison between Legal, internal key stakeholders andSales functions. This position is key in the development of bothContract strategy and Contract initiation due to the nature of thevery complex contracts this role manages. Leads evaluation andanalysis of customer contracting opportunities including performingfinancial modeling and contract risk assessment analysis andpreparation of legally approved contract documents. Works closelywith account managers, pricing and contract analytics, finance,compliance and others to ensure offers are competitive, legallycompliant, and strategically structured to create value for boththe customer and Sun Pharma. Sr, Mgr Contract Strategy is theinternal expert on assigned customers and ensures contracts arestructured to be consistent with brand strategy and supports thelatest pull-through efforts. Assists Contract Analyst when scorecarding accounts. Supports development of Gross to Net (GTN) budgetand accruals. Provides ad hoc support and input as required forGovernment Pricing calculations.
Responsibilities:
Manages thecontract portfolio within targeted business channels to ensureconsistent creation and workflow of contract documents bycoordinating with Legal, Sales, Finance, Marketing, and all otherkey stakeholders within the SUN US business as required. Managescompliance for contracts within a targeted business channel,ensuring customers are meeting the requirements needed to maintaindiscounts provided on contract offerings; Identifies needs toimprove operations and processes of the group and leads any changesor improvement efforts. Develops and maintains good customerrelationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
Provides consistent high quality service level to all internal andexternal customers ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and courteousfollow-up. Supports the development and implementation of systemsimprovements and independently leads any efforts to represent theinput of Contract Strategy; Creates strategically sound contractsand provides contract solutions that will satisfy both customer andbusiness needs. Manage complex and/or critically large valuedcontracts; Provides solutions in the development of contractstrategy to Account Directors and Stakeholders; Co-Leads alongsideAccount Directors and Brand teams, all cross functional effortsrelating to commercial contracts (in Project management form) forany large, critical RFP, BID and/or commercial contract that maydevelop significant risk to the organization; At advanced seniorlevels, this expert position also manages service agreements andany agreement that defines new drug therapies or services newlylaunched by Sun Pharma. Provides strategic input and co-developmentof complex Sales Strategies and presentations with and for KeyDecision Makers and Executive Leadership; Provides ad hoc analysisand risk assessments as needed to evaluate sales offers, execute onlook back analysis and determine contract value and complianceProvides proactive insights and recommendations to Market AccessAccount Managers to deliver stronger value for the customer and SunPharma Works with Contract Administration team to ensure pricingstrategies/methodology can be operationalized within Sun Pharma’srevenue management system prior to executing agreements; Providesdirect customer-facing support for Market Access Account Managerswith contract negotiations, including developing and presentingsupporting information that enhances negotiation discussionsMonitors the competition, marketplace, and regulatory changes thatcould influence contract terms Works with internal government andlegal experts to monitor the latest government contracting andreporting requirements, and ensures government pricing implicationsare identified and considered Analyzes and monitors customercompliance and performance against contract terms and reports outto Market Access Account Managers Customer performance.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline. MBApreferred but not required 8 year’s business experience preferablyin Contracts, Pricing or Market Access including 7 years ofexperience in contract generation and drafting. Stronginterpersonal / analytical/communication skills with ability tointegrate information from multiple sources. In-depth knowledge ofworking with complex and specialized contracts. Ability to exerciseinitiative and independent judgment in the solution of workproblems. Demonstrated ability to manage information and input fromseveral functions and sources. Experience in Specialty Pharma andbiopharmaceutical market. Understands Medicare, buy and bill andthe Medical benefit healthcare design; Understands Pharmacy benefitadjudication and formulary compliance; Understands governmentmarkets; Strong technical/functional skills. Experience innegotiating, executing, and implementing contracts Stronganalytical skills and ability to think strategically about theimpact of various contracting approaches which could be employed ina complex ecosystem/marketplace Firm understanding of thehealthcare marketplace and demonstrates strong business acumen.
Ability to work across boundaries to partner, influence and buildconsensus with various stakeholders in order to get resultsExceptional aptitude for learning quickly and ability tocommunicate technical concepts to a wide range of stakeholders Musthave strong oral and written communication skills Proficient inMicrosoft suite: Word, PowerPoint and Excel Required. Actual basecompensation may vary based on a number of factors, including butnot limited to geographical location and experience. In addition,this position is part of the Annual Performance Bonus Plan.
