Job Summary News 12 andspecifically News 12 NY is looking for a Director of BroadcastEngineering to help manage our production and distributioninfrastructure, including IP systems and streaming technology. News12 is a progressive and innovative hyper-local news organizationwith multiple newsrooms in the tri-state area. This role isresponsible for maintaining, developing, and overseeing thetechnical operations of our broadcast distribution platforms tosupport live news production of News 12 New York. The DirectorBroadcast Engineering is a leadership role requiring excellenttechnical knowledge and the ability to innovate productioncapability and workflows, while helping to build a culture ofexcellence. Responsibilities Oversee all technologicalrequirements, solutions, and operations for News12’s broadcastdistribution platforms and OTT distribution systems. Design anddeploy IP video distribution systems integrated with a corporatenetwork environment for the division’s OTT brands. As needed, helpengineering managers to guide and supervise, a team of BroadcastEngineers responsible for maintaining 24/7 operations andproduction, as well as OTT distribution. Responsible for systemdesign, as well as maintaining a hands-on role in subsequentpurchase, configuration and support of all broadcast systems. Workas a team to research, design, purchase, and implement broadcasttechnology. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop andimplement strategies for optimizing content delivery. Secure andhelp manage relationships with third party vendors/contractors forall broadcast studio needs. Stay up-to-date on new broadcastingtechniques, industry trends and advancements in technology toensure utilization of the most innovative and effective methods.

Monitor and analyze performance metrics to identify areas forimprovement and implement solutions. Manage budgets and resourceseffectively to ensure cost-efficient operations. Maintain a secureIT network following industry best practices; develop and maintaindisaster recovery plans to minimize downtime and ensureuninterrupted content delivery. Communicate regularly with seniormanagement and provide reports on the performance of broadcastdistribution operations. Act as a liaison between technical andnon-technical teams, translating complex technical concepts intoeasily understandable terms. Ensure compliance with all relevantregulations and industry standards. Coordinate and act as theliaison between News12 New York and Corporate IT, Network Security,app Development, and the Digital Head end teams. Handle otherfacilities related, security, IT, or operations related issues asthey arise, responding promptly to any technical issues oremergencies. Pay is competitive and based on a number of job-relatedfactors, including skills and experience. The starting payrate/range at time of hire for this position in the posted locationis $155,509.00 – $255,479.00 / year. The rate/range provided hereinis the anticipated pay at the time of hire, and does not reflectfuture job opportunity.
