We are currently seeking an Operations Manager on behalf of the New York State Community Commission on Reparations Remedies (NYSCCRR).
Job Summary:
The Operations Manager will serve as the core administrator for the NYSCCRR, managing daily operations, coordinating meetings, overseeing logistics and budgeting, and serving as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders. This critical leadership role supports the Commission’s mission of studying the history of slavery in New York and recommending appropriate reparations. Page | 1
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations and coordination of Commission activities.
- Work with the Chair, Executive Director, and Commissioners to document processes and ensure operational continuity.
- Manage scheduling, planning, and logistics for public hearings and business meetings (in-person and virtual).
- Assist in hiring support staff in legal, administrative, financial, and communications roles.
- Track and verify vendor payments, invoice approvals, and manage budgets.
- Serve as the main point of contact for external communications and inquiries.
- Coordinate travel, lodging, webcasting, and site logistics for statewide Commission events.
- Identify operational challenges and propose strategic solutions.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years in operations management, project management, or a similar role.
Preferred Skills:
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
- Experience with community engagement and event management.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, virtual meeting platforms, and project management tools.
- Ability to manage complex logistics and multiple priorities independently.
- Background working with diverse and historically underserved communities.
