Job Summary The primary purpose of this position is to lead, develop and manage the Operations Training Team at Susquehanna Nuclear, LLC. This includes oversight of the administration of six operator training programs accredited by the National Academy for
Nuclear Training:
Non-Licensed Operator, Reactor Operator, Senior Reactor Operator, Licensed Operator Re-qualification, Shift Manager, and Shift Technical Advisor. This position is responsible for ensuring the control room simulator is certified and capable to license new reactor and senior reactor operators.
Primary Responsibilities:
Manage the Operations Training Programs to meet or exceed applicable regulations and accreditation objectives and criteria. Manage the simulator support group to ensure the plant-reference control room simulator satisfies all applicable regulatory standards and reliably supports operator training. As a member of the station leadership team, support key station functions including outage support, duty team support and/or on-call membership of the nuclear emergency response organization (NERO). This requires the ability to respond to the site and activate an emergency facility within 60 minutes while on call. Provide leadership, supervision, and development of the Operations Training staff. Partner with Operations department leadership to ensure strong alignment between the Operations and Training departments. Manage Operations Training budget to obtain business plan objectives. Train, evaluate and certify instructors. Teach selected training courses. Evaluate performance of operators in the simulator.
Basic Qualifications:
1. Must hold or have held a Senior Reactor Operator license (preferred) or certification at a BWR is preferred; license or certification at PWR is acceptable. 2. Must have at least five (5) years licensed operator training experience OR have been an Operations Shift Manager at a commercial nuclear station. Demonstrated proficiency in verbal and written communications. 3. Comprehensive knowledge of the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT). 4. Ability to obtain unescorted plant access.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline or equivalent nuclear power plant experience. Extensive knowledge of training requirements from Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO). On-shift experience as a BWR SRO or Shift Manager. Detailed knowledge of the INPO accreditation process. In-depth knowledge of the NRC operator examination development process.
