THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Foreperson in the Corrections General Industries Factory for the Department of Corrections, you will be tasked with overseeing and executing complex manufacturing operations related to the production or processing of various products and services within your designated state correctional facility. Your role will involve instructing, training, and supervising inmates in the essential practices, methods, and procedures pertinent to the industry. This includes providing hands-on demonstrations and thorough explanations, as well as maintaining close oversight during both training sessions and work assignments. You will be responsible for planning and assigning tasks, reviewing and evaluating the performance of the inmates under your supervision, and keeping detailed records of their training progress, wages, and attendance. Additionally, you will ensure that established standards of quality and quantity are met by inspecting equipment, raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished products. Furthermore, you will oversee the maintenance and repair of factory equipment to ensure smooth operations. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday.
This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Three years of experience in the production of goods or services; or
An associate degree in industrial technology, operations management, business administration, or a related field; and one year of work experience in the production of goods or services; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training, which includes one year of work experience in the production of goods or services.

Other Requirements:

Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. You must meet the PA residency requirement. For more information on ways to meet PA residency requirements, follow the link and click on Residency. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
