Job Description

Director of Development and Operations Deane Center for the Performing Arts 104 Main Street, Wellsboro, PA 16901 Job Overview The Director of Development and Operations is the senior staff leader of the Deane Center for the Performing Arts responsible for the day-to-day management of the facility, staff supervision, fundraising, and the operational support of programming—especially initiatives that serve youth and senior populations. This role is expected to focus on building the resources needed to support a thriving, community-centered venue. The ideal candidate is a proactive, organized, hands-on leader with experience in business development and operational management, and a passion for the role arts and culture play in strengthening small communities.

Key Responsibilities:

Fundraising and Development (40%) Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy, with a focus on individual giving, grant writing, business sponsorships, fundraising events, and donor stewardship. Research grant opportunities and provide necessary information for application, particularly those supporting youth and senior engagement in the arts. Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with individual donors and local and regional foundations. Support the board’s fundraising efforts through timely updates and background materials. Operations Management (30%) Manage and oversee contracts, vendor relationships, and supply purchasing. Develop marketing programs including social media, website, brochures, newsletter, emails, etc. in coordination with local organizations (i.e. Cahmber of Commerce), Oversee the daily operations of the facility to ensure cleanliness, functionality, and safety. Manage scheduling and logistics for performances, events, rentals, and community programs. Create an annual budget with direction and assistance of the Finance Committee. Ensure compliance with all operational regulations and licensing requirements. Staff and Office Management (20%) Supervise and support a small team including the receptionist, part-time bookkeeper, maintenance staff, and programming fellow. Facilitate internal communication and collaboration among staff. Manage payroll coordination and work closely with the bookkeeper to ensure accurate financial records. Develop and oversee volunteer program to assist with administrative tasks and event coverage. Ensure consistent administrative systems are in place and function efficiently. Program Support and Community Engagement (10%) Support the development and delivery of programs, especially those targeted toward seniors and youth. Collaborate with local schools, senior centers, and other community organizations to expand participation and deepen community impact. Monitor and evaluate program outcomes to inform fundraising and grant reporting.

$42,000.00 – $50,000.00 per year
