This is a frontline supervisor position that supports the FedExSafety Above All Culture and manages specific day-to-day operationsand an assigned staff. Responsible for ensuring safe and efficientpackage sortation through the management of Package Handlers. TheOperations Supervisor may also manage administrative employees andfunctions and ensures administrative processes are compliant withFedEx policies and procedures and governmental regulations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Serves as a champion for FedEx’s Safety AboveAll Culture and supports all related initiatives Managementresponsibilities include, but are not limited to: hiring,terminations, coaching, training, recognition and rewards,performance evaluation and management, discipline, addressingemployee concerns and staff productivity Plans, organizes, staffs,directs and controls specific day-to-day operations Responsible forassigning and managing employees to ensure the safe and efficientsortation of packages through the facility, minimizing operationalcost and maximizing operational quality, including the movement,tracking and administration of trailers (in conjunction with thelinehaul department as applicable) Analyzes operational performancethrough direct observation, interpretation of reports andcollaboration with others. Determines opportunities for improvementof key metrics and executes action plans to achieve results Leadsdaily employee and/or planning meetings to ensure workforcecommunication and understanding of operational updates and dailygoals; Includes communication and public speaking to small andlarge audiences on a regular basis Participates in the developmentof and responsible for administering company employee relationsstrategies, including maintaining the confidentiality of suchmaterial and matters Participates in the development of andresponsible for administering company safety strategies andprograms Investigates, resolves and/or escalates customer serviceissues, as appropriate Responsible for training new employeesregarding job duties and performance expectations and ensuringcompliance with FXG policies, procedures and other trainingrequirements, including but not limited to training related toquality assurance, SWAK, hazardous materials, Video Event DataRecorder (VEDR) coaching, and dock safety Mentors and developscritical skill sets for new and/or less-experienced OperationsSupervisors Adapts quickly to change to meet dynamic businessneeds; Displays flexibility and appropriate sense of urgency, whileleading and engaging employees in a positive and professionalmanner Peforms other duties as assigned Minimum Education Highschool diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred. Inlieu of experience, certification program or Associate’s Degree inrelated area or 2 years of college courses towards a degreeBachelor’s Degree (preferred). Minimum Experience Six (6) monthsexperience required in the following areas: package handler atFedEx, fast-paced environment (retail, hospitality, fulfillmentcenter, warehouse, dock, or stock room/stock functions), militaryexperience with honorable discharge or supervisory experience.
