Security Operations General What You’ll Do
The Security Operations Director (SOD) reports to the Y-12 Safeguards and Security (S&S) Senior Director and serves as the direct supervisor of the Security Operations Interface Sr Mgr and an Administrative Support professional. The SOD is expected to have the knowledge, skills, and abilities to act on behalf of and or representing the S&S Sr Director, as needed. The role of the SOD is to lead, manage, and integrate multiple S&S Topical Areas ensuring the sites daily S&S current operations are intact from both a compliance and performance perspective. The SOD interfaces daily with balance of plant personnel including attendance at the Integrated Plan of the Day alignment meeting resolving issues, as needed. In addition, the SOD facilitates the S&S staff bimonthly staff meeting to ensure alignment with S&S and includes working closely with the Directors of Security Integration and Security Transformation for critical handoffs of Projects and future operations to current/daily operations to ensure security requirements have been met prior to turnover to current operations.
Other Responsibilities Include:
The SOD is a key stakeholder in the S&S Execution Document process to ensure in CONOPS is maintained as work is executed affecting systems, associated risks, and response
The SOD serves as the senior leader within S&S that orchestrates the S&S strategy and framework that includes site initiatives for special events requiring visit plans such as VIP visits, Family Day and other seasonal employee family focused events
Evaluates and documents, through self-assessments, the effectiveness of SOI procedures, systems and methodologies for compliance with applicable
DOE/NNSA
requirements; most notably the S&S Sr Leader that has overall responsibility for S&S Security Requirements Documents and the Prohibited and Controlled Articles policy teaming with the SOI Sr Mgr
Serves as primary S&S interface for DOE Enterprise Assessment activities. Develops corrective action plans, root cause analyses, and resolves issues to preclude recurrence, including weekly participation in Performance Assurance Management Review Boards
Handles all personnel matters associated with direct reports including interviewing, hiring, making hiring recommendations, evaluating performance, coaching, counseling, rewarding and disciplining employees as appropriate, training, and developing staff
Provides leadership and personal interaction to promote positive work environment and encourages individual involvement
Serves as the focal point for Emergency Services interface in a on call status fulfilling a critical role within the sites Emergency Response Organization and Security Incident Response Team as the Security Manager
Serves as the S&S Sr point of contact and focal point for scheduling, coordinating and execution DOE Enterprise Assessment activity within S&S
Develops corrective action plans, root cause analyses, and resolves issues to preclude recurrence
Supports S&S strategic planning, site wide goals, and security infrastructure modernization to an operational production on line status
Supports S&S new contracting order requirements to include Impact Assessments and Implementation Plans, as needed
The S&S Sr Leader that maintains overall responsibility for the sites subcontract enforcing the requirement for adherence to the detection of explosives

Minimum Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree: Minimum 12 years of relevant experience including a minimum 5 years of relevant supervisory/management experience
OR twenty or more years of relevant education and/or relevant experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years-of-experience requirements for this posting, including a minimum 5 years of management experience
