Production Operations Manager Coalition Foods Centerville, TN 37033

Job Summary:

The Production Operations Manager at Coalition Foods is responsible for overseeing all daily production operations on the manufacturing floor, ensuring the efficient, safe, and high-quality production of all food products. This role requires a strong leader who can effectively manage production leads and line associates, optimize processes and improve ergonomics, maintain compliance with food safety standards, and drive continuous improvement in a fast-paced contract manufacturing environment. The Production Operations Manager will be critical in achieving production targets, minimizing waste, and fostering a positive and productive work culture.

Key Responsibilities:
Production Oversight:

Direct and manage daily production activities across all shifts, ensuring adherence to production schedules and customer specifications for all food products. Monitor production output, efficiency, and quality, making real-time adjustments to optimize performance. Troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and disruptions. Collaborate cross-departmentally with planning and scheduling teams to ensure raw material availability and efficient changeovers.

Team Leadership & Development:

Supervise, train, and mentor Production Leadership and line associates, fostering a high-performance and positive team environment. Conduct performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and identify training needs. Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Address employee relations issues and enforce company policies consistently. Set and communicate the weekly staffing schedule for the Production team.

Quality & Food Safety:

Ensure strict adherence to all food safety programs, including HACCP, GMPs, SQF, and other relevant regulatory requirements. Oversee and continuously develop Production logs, data tracking, and traceability steps. Monitor and enforce quality control procedures, ensuring all products meet Coalition Foods’ and customer quality standards. Participate in internal and external audits, ensuring compliance and addressing any non-conformances. Champion a culture of food safety and quality excellence on the production floor.

Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement:

Identify opportunities for process improvement, waste reduction, and efficiency gains. Implement lean manufacturing principles and best practices to optimize production flow. Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and report on production metrics to the Plant Manager. Lead or participate in continuous improvement projects to enhance productivity, quality, and safety.

Safety & Compliance:

Promote and enforce a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with all OSHA regulations and company safety policies. Investigate and report all incidents, near misses, and safety hazards, implementing corrective actions. Ensure proper use of all production equipment. Assist with and/or participate in SQF-driven training sessions as related to the Production floor.

Communication & Collaboration:

Maintain effective communication with the Plant Manager, other department managers, and production teams. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues, improve processes, and achieve company objectives. Professionally communicate with and host customers, auditors, vendors, and other visitors as necessary. Provide regular updates on production status, challenges, and successes.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Food Science, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered. Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in food manufacturing, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role on a production floor. Demonstrated experience in a protein bar, snack bar, or similar CPG manufacturing environment is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of food safety regulations (HACCP, GMPs, SQF, etc.) and quality control systems. Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a diverse production team. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills. Driven by data and informed decision making. Proficiency in lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding manufacturing environment, including flexibility to work varying shifts as needed. Proficiency in Google Suite, Katana, and other platforms preferred

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to work in varying temperatures and environmental conditions typical of a manufacturing plant.

$80,000.00 – $100,000.00 per year
