Job Title:

Packaging Operator Job Description This position involves managing all packaging functions with a focus on quality, productivity, and adherence to packaging codes. The Packaging Operator will also operate a forklift as needed, following all outlined work instructions. Responsibilities Check materials at finishing lines to ensure compliance with work codes and customer formats. Secure necessary packaging materials such as skids, pallets, cardboard, and plastic. Ensure accuracy and quality of packaged materials. Confirm correct weights on materials and proper parking locations in the computer system. Coordinate movement of materials through shipping bays and communicate with Cranemen as necessary. Manage work at packaging lines for coils, ensuring efficiency. Maintain accurate pack codes, quality, and efficiency for downended coils. Keep inventory of all packing needs, such as wood, paper, and shrink wrap guns. Assist in redistributing packers between lines for smooth operations. Direct unanswered questions through the shipping section chain of command. Monitor and correct safety activities as necessary. Train on-shift utility personnel and motivate pack crews to achieve results. Perform other assigned tasks. Essential Skills 1+ year experience operating a forklift. Experience in packaging and packing. Experience in a warehouse environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. High School Diploma or GED required. Experience in packing or shipping preferred. Why Work Here? The warehouse is not climate-controlled, so expect varying temperatures—hot in summer and cold in winter. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with availability required from 5 AM to 5 PM. Weekend work may be requested as needed. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of PENDERGRASS, Georgia. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 – $18.00/hr.
