Director of Procurement and Contracts Position Summary
The Director of Procurement and Contracts is responsible for overseeing all contractual aspects of sub-contractor construction contracts and procurement. Procurement responsibility is primarily associated with the bidding, negotiation, and purchase of OEM Equipment. This includes sub-contractor compliance with Company & established Project policies, legal requirements, and construction standards. This position will be responsible for contract development, administration, and contract close out including claims and dispute resolution.
Director of Procurement and Contracts Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Establish and Manage standard Contractual and Procurement processes for the Lexicon Construction Management department for EPC Projects.
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts for various construction disciplines, e.g. Piling, civil foundations, structural steel erection, piping, electrical, etc.
Draft, review, and formalize contract annexes for specific requirements of the construction projects including contractual tools to ensure on time and on budget execution, e.g. Liquidated damages, incentives, equipment performance guarantees, etc.
Lead the bidding process OEM Equipment procurement including bid leveling, negotiations, and preparing documentation for client approval processes.
Draft, Negotiate, and Manage standard contract provisions such as Performance Guarantees, Liquidated Damages, Payment Schedules, etc.
Collaborate with Project Management, Construction Management, legal, and others on contract & procurement related issues.
Manage change orders, amendments, and close out.
Routine monitoring of contractor performance ensuring compliance with scope, schedule, budget, etc.
Manage claims, disputes, and conflict resolution in collaboration with Project Management, Legal, Finance, etc.
Provide routine reporting on contract status, risk, compliance, etc.
Various other administrative and clerical duties as assigned related to contract management.
Director of Procurement and Contracts Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Law, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. Minimum 10 years of experience in contract and procurement management; preferably in capital Projects or construction. Construction purchasing experience required. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office. Must have excellent organizational and communication skills.
Director of Procurement and Contracts Physical Demands
Must be able to work weekends and long hours in a high-pressure working environment. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally. All the physical demands listed are essential functions.
