Role:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and retail-savvy Category Manager to support modular planning and execution across key entertainment categories. This role will work closely with Walmart buyers, vendor partners, and internal stakeholders to lead modular creation, optimize shelf presence, and support merchandising decisions that enhance customer experience and drive sales. The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of Walmart modular systems, exceptional Excel skills, and strong communication and project management capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Own the end-to-end modular planning process, including assortment architecture, planogram design, and layout submission. Act as the liaison between Walmart buyers and vendor partners to align on modular strategy, timelines, and execution. Manage item-level data submission, packaging specs, and performance analytics to ensure modular accuracy and effectiveness. Analyze sales, space, and velocity data to provide actionable insights and recommendations for assortment and layout optimization. Maintain calendar discipline to ensure timely modular submissions, line review deliverables, and follow-up communications. Partner with internal operations and inventory teams to ensure alignment on product availability and launch readiness.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Merchandising, Marketing, or a related field. 3-5 years of experience in modular planning, retail merchandising, or account management—experience with Walmart is strongly preferred. Advanced Excel skills required (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data modeling, automation). Experience with Walmart systems including Retail Link, NOVA, Modular Online, and Online Item File. Familiarity with Blue Yonder/Space Planning is a strong plus. Experience using syndicated data (e.g., Circana/Nielsen) to drive retail decisions. Excellent attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interface confidently with buyers and vendors. Experience in the entertainment category (film, music, or games) is a plus, but not required.
