GENIND Job Summary:

The Director, Strategic Sourcing directs contract negotiations in collaboration with department leadership and provides guidance for benchmarking prices and contract terms. This role oversees the value analysis process and supports organizational-wide efforts to identify savings opportunities, setting goals and working with senior leadership to improve patient care and drive clinical excellence.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Master’s degree, preferred. Licensure, Registration and/or

Certification:

Certification from the Association for Healthcare Resource & Materials Management (AHRMM) or other national healthcare supply chain certification, preferred.

Work Experience:

Minimum 5 years of negotiation and contract management experience in a healthcare environment, preferably in a health system.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Excellent knowledge of sourcing and procurement principles and best practices. Strong negotiation and contract management knowledge, with proven supplier relationship management skills. Knowledge of healthcare budget and financial policies and practices. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels. Superior leadership skills, with a demonstrated record of effectively developing, directing, and mentoring teams.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Directs negotiations for contract terms and conditions while considering national group purchasing agreements. Leads team in identifying new categories and initiatives that resolves any gaps within the contract terms. Ensures departmental staff continuously researches supplier options to ensure supply chain resiliency is maintained. Establishes and maintains measurable performance metrics for all levels of contracting and procurement activities. Collaborates with other supply chain leaders to ensure cohesive and thorough processes are upheld within departmental activities. Researches and studies benchmark data to evaluate supplier performance; identifying and implementing any necessary changes to maintain optimal relationships with suppliers. Builds and maintains service-oriented relationships with internal and external stakeholders to uphold overall system-wide budget expectations. Oversees the value analysis process to ensure cost-effective utilization of products, services, and business processes.

Decision Making:

Independent judgement in making decisions from many diversified alternatives that are subject to general review in final stages only.

Working Relationships:

Direct Supervision of others. Prepares and gives performance evaluations. Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal and/or external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff. Works frequently with individuals at Director level and above.
