Position Summary:
We are seeking a technically proficient and strategically minded Director of Procurement with a background in Electrical Engineering to lead our procurement operations for electrical components. This role is ideal for a leader who understands the technical specifications of electrical systems and components and can translate that knowledge into effective sourcing strategies, supplier negotiations, and cost optimization.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management Develop and execute procurement strategies for electrical components including PCBs, semiconductors, connectors, wiring harnesses, sensors, and power systems. Evaluate and select suppliers based on technical capability, quality, cost, and delivery performance. Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and manufacturers globally. Technical Collaboration Work closely with engineering and R D teams to understand product requirements and ensure component compatibility and compliance. Participate in design reviews and BOM (Bill of Materials) planning to align procurement with product development timelines. Cost & Risk Management Lead cost reduction initiatives through value engineering, alternative sourcing, and supplier consolidation. Monitor market trends and component availability to mitigate supply chain risks and ensure continuity. Team Leadership Manage and mentor a team of procurement professionals and technical buyers. Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement. Compliance & Quality Assurance Ensure all sourced components meet industry standards (e.g., RoHS, REACH, IPC) and internal quality requirements. Maintain accurate procurement documentation and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory guidelines.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field (Master’s or MBA preferred). 8-12 years of procurement experience, with at least 5 years in electrical or electronics manufacturing. Deep understanding of electrical components, specifications, and supply chain dynamics. Strong negotiation, analytical, and project management skills. Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and procurement analytics tools.
Preferred Certifications:
Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) Six Sigma or Lean Certification
