Job Description
Think is seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Interim Purchasing Manager to oversee procurement activities during a key transitional period. This role requires an individual with proven expertise in material forecasting, purchasing strategy, and vendor management to ensure a consistent and cost-effective flow of materials across multiple categories. Key Responsibilities Develop and execute short- and mid-term material purchasing plans in coordination with production and demand forecasts. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, planning, and finance to align purchasing activities with business goals. Monitor lead times, pricing trends, and market conditions to ensure competitive sourcing and mitigate supply chain risks. Manage relationships with existing suppliers while identifying and qualifying new vendors as needed. Negotiate contracts, pricing, and delivery schedules to ensure favorable terms and consistent supply. Maintain accurate purchasing records, forecasts, and inventory reports using ERP/MRP systems. Monitor and optimize stock levels to avoid overstock or shortages, supporting lean inventory strategies. Troubleshoot and resolve any material availability issues that could impact production. Provide regular reporting to senior management on purchasing performance, material status, and risk areas. Qualifications Proven experience in an Interim capacity as a Purchasing Manager or senior procurement role within a manufacturing or production environment. Strong knowledge of material planning, demand forecasting, and supply chain logistics. Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite). Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple material categories and high-volume purchasing activities. Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or a related field (Master’s a plus). Preferred Skills Experience working in regulated industries (e.g., food, pharmaceutical, or similar). Lean procurement or Six Sigma certifications are a plus.
