SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Commodity Manager oversees the development and execution of cost reduction strategies for assigned commodities. This role encompasses multiple locations and commodities, utilizing tools like reverse auctions, VA/VE, and global sourcing to effectively reduce costs in the supply chain. The position collaborates closely with technical teams to design and execute cost reduction initiatives.
JOB DUTIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Lead the management of assigned commodities by actively formulating and executing both near-term and long-term strategies, engaging the team, driving effective management, and ensuring proactive follow-up. Identify, assess, negotiate, and select suppliers to secure optimal quality, cost, and delivery of materials that meet established standards. Proactively oversee cost reduction initiatives and other cross-functional projects to meet specific objectives. Develop and implement a supplier segmentation strategy to enhance supply base performance. Contribute to enterprise commodity goals by engaging in company-wide initiatives. Observe and respond to crucial market forecasts and shifts in conditions. Oversee supplier tooling and capacity to align with commodity objectives. Negotiate and uphold contracts, payment terms, and purchase conditions that align with commodity, savings, and cash flow targets. Decrease the overall number of suppliers needed to fulfill commodity goals. Supervise component and assembly pricing structures and resolve any discrepancies. Assist engineering and product management with new product launches, improvements, modifications, and rationalization. Maintain precise records in line with established policies and procedures. Create, implement, and manage metrics to evaluate the overall success and effectiveness of commodity performance. Address high-level supplier performance issues decisively. Perform additional related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
(KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES): A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, or a related field. Over 5 years of procurement experience in a fast-paced, multi-site environment. Determination, results orientation, and the motivation to work efficiently with minimal supervision. Knowledge of purchasing systems and principles, including experience with low-cost country sourcing, auctions, Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE), and other leveraging tools. Analytical abilities combined with curiosity to identify root causes and develop countermeasures.
Preferred Qualifications:
Tech-savvy, particularly in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, JDE/SAP/QlikView, Portal, Insight, IBEE, and Team Center. Strong project management and team leadership skills, with the capability to foster support for change across all levels of internal and external organizations. Comprehensive understanding of selected commodities. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to real-world situations. Strong critical thinking skills and the foresight to envision potential and long-term goals. Proactive with a strong focus on customers, and strategic and organized.
