The role can be remote or office at any of our locations in the New Orleans, Knoxville, or Boston areas. Due to some required travel, the ideal candidate will live in the South or Eastern part of the US.
Job Summary:
The Category Development Manager will be charged with providing insights for key retailers across the US within the tea and coffee category. This role will utilize multiple sources of data to create category reviews, lead strategic planning within the sales organization, provide necessary business analytics, and aid in the management of trade funding. Category Management Develop insights and recommendations by combining data points from multiple internal and external resources Customize presentations for customers, which would include new items, category reviews, and business updates Identify gaps and opportunities within coffee at key retailers Assist Regional Sales Managers (RSMs) on sales calls Work cross-functionally with Marketing, Finance, Purchasing, and Operations to develop category insights and recommendations Strategic Planning Assist in the annual planning process, including Marketing Business Reviews and Brand Plans, National Sales Meeting, and Account Planning sessions Build and implement DSMP strategies with Marketing and assists in developing annual growth targets Develop and communicate strategies with Sales Organization to achieve growth targets and maximize DSMPs Conduct regular customer planning meetings with Sales (Directors and RSMs) Monitor the marketplace and make necessary recommendations to organization Business Analytics Develop tracking and management of KPIs to internal organization Analyze and provide insights on merchandising results Analyze pricing (both everyday and promotional) across key product lines and competitive brands Help Director of Retail Sales and Cat Man identify areas of improvement with internal processes and systems Assist Director of Retail Sales and Cat Man in developing and managing planning tools and resources Trade Management Assist RSMs with managing trade funds and internal trade planners Review, approve, and track slotting requests Manage and review incremental spending requests 5+ years of experience in sales planning or category management sales roles in CPG Industry Knowledge of customer best practices, channel + shopper trends, and category insights Proficient in CPG industry insights tools, such as Nielsen and IRI MS Office proficiency, specifically Excel and Power Point Highly motivated self-starter with strong project management skills Strong analytical skills with ability to develop and deliver presentations Possess persuasive leadership and influencing skills Strong communication skills with the ability to develop and deliver presentations to senior leadership team and work effectively cross-functionally Bachelor’s Degree Ability and willingness to travel approximately 25%
