SUMMARY:
The Purchasing Manager is responsible for the overall Inventory Replenishment function which includes leading a team of Buyers to ensure Inventory Key Performance Indicators (KPI) such as days payable outstanding, in-stock, fill rate, and inventory turns are met as well as customer service level goals. This role will support the Buyers with internal customers within Wheeler to drive team focused win/win scenarios within the organization. Additionally, provide guidance to the Buyers through Best-In-Class purchasing and inventory management practices, supply chain planning within the ERP system, and the overall supplier relationship management. Maintaining a sense of urgency as well as constant professionalism is required.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Select, motivate, and ensure the ongoing development of a team of Buyers with varying skill levels Monitor and ensure departmental personnel conform to company policies and procedures Implement buying strategies and processes that ensure goods are available when needed while optimizing overall inventory to support financial goals Manage projects and effectively communicate necessary information to all relevant stakeholders Cultivate new and continuously improve replenishment tools and processes to effectively manage inventory levels to support Wheeler Annual Operating Plans Work with the Category Management Team to maximize value with high performing strategic suppliers while removing low performing tactical suppliers from our purchasing strategy (supplier consolidation) Work with light duty and heavy-duty Buying Groups to maximize financial incentives within the programs and to ensure supplier compliance to the program agreements Monitor and communicate the performance of suppliers via scorecard metrics Maintain and control all ERP parameters to ensure an efficient purchasing plan (i.e. – lead time, order frequency, safety stock, supplier master data, etc.) Perform daily purchasing activities such as purchase order issuance, open order management (rescheduling as business needs shift), and annual stock returns Analyze data to identify and act on factors such as negative purchase price variance (PPV), slow moving inventory, demand forecast accuracy, and total cost of ownership Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in business or related and a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience or an additional 4 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree 3 years previous supervisory experience Excellent written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated experience in Continuous Improvement initiatives and leading Best-In-Class process standards Strong business acumen, analytical skills, and understanding of how decisions impact financial statements Previous experience utilizing an ERP system to manage inventory Knowledge of ISO Quality Management requirements and processes Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel Ability to travel up to 10% domestic or international
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
Previous Supply Chain Management experience in an Automotive industry APICS/ISM, Lean, Continuous Improvement certification(s) Previous Infor M3 ERP system experience
