General Job Description:
The Materials Sourcing Manager oversees the procurement of equipment, materials, pipe, and aggregate for stormwater construction projects. This role is responsible for ensuring timely and cost-effective sourcing of high-quality construction materials and equipment while maintaining strong supplier relationships and supporting project deadlines. Performance metrics for this role will include adherence cost saving initiatives, management of supplier relationships with VP of Procurement, and enforcement of procurement related policies and procedures. The Materials Sourcing Manager will be expected to develop and retain understanding of procurement terminology, measures, processes, principles and strategies.
Specific Duties:
Develop and implement sourcing strategies for equipment, materials, pipe, and aggregate specific to storm water infrastructure projects. Qualify providers for awarded sites by following the procurement process with due regard to project scope and client stakeholder requirements Negotiate terms, pricing, and delivery schedules to secure competitive advantages and minimize risk. Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and field supervisors to forecast demand and align procurement plans with project timelines. Monitor market trends, price fluctuations, and material availability to inform purchasing decisions. Evaluate supplier performance and manage vendor compliance with quality, safety, and sustainability standards. Track and manage procurement budgets, report on cost savings, and maintain detailed records of purchase orders and contracts. Ensure compliance with internal purchasing policies and applicable regulations. Demonstrates the mission, vision, and core values of the organization through conduct, behavior, actions, and words Maintains positive working relationships and fosters cooperative work environment. Displays honesty and mutual respect when communicating with peers and other departments. Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of duties in this job classification
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree preferred in Supply Chain, Business Administration Construction Management or other related field Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement or materials management, preferably in civil or utility construction. Ability to read and interpret construction plans and technical specifications. Proven negotiation and contract management skills.
