OpportunityWe are seeking a proven “Strategist Doer” to take on the pivotal role of Director, US Commercial Procurement – Marketing Services. This is a highly impactful position within our lean, high-performing US Oncology unit, where your ability to seamlessly blend strategic foresight and domain expertise with hands-on execution will directly translate into significant business value.
As the Director, you will be singularly accountable for driving critical cost efficiencies, transparency, and budget optimization across our most essential Marketing & Sales external support services. This comprehensive scope includes, but is not limited to, Creative & Media agencies, Market Research / Data & Analytics services, Omnichannel digital marketing campaign orchestration & delivery services, Speaker bureaus, field force training, and Congress or event planning & coordination services.
You will serve as the primary Procurement subject matter expert for these categories, operating with a high degree of autonomy while working closely with Marketing brand teams, Commercial data & analytics teams, Market Access, Finance, and the global Marketing Procurement category team. Your immediate focus will be on the timely, value-add, and cost-effective execution of sourcing events and contract negotiations, while simultaneously developing and implementing robust, data-driven sourcing strategies that ensure maximum impact and sustainable savings. This role is for someone who thrives on both defining the path and personally navigating it to deliver tangible results.#LI-MB1ResponsibilitiesLead and execute the end-to-end Procurement process for all US Oncology Marketing Services, encompassing meticulous strategic planning, market analysis, hands-on RFX development and execution, complex contract negotiation, and diligent contract lifecycle management.
Independently manage all sourcing, contracting, and strategic supplier relationship management for critical categories including Creative & Media agencies, Commercial Market Research / Data & Analytics services, Omnichannel marketing content delivery, Speaker bureaus, and Congress or event planning & coordination services.
Drive significant cost optimization and value creation through expert, hands-on negotiations, proactive identification of savings opportunities, and the establishment of impactful supplier partnerships.
Develop and implement robust, data-driven category strategies that directly inform and enhance sourcing and negotiation efforts, ensuring long-term value and alignment with US Oncology’s commercial objectives.
Collaborate closely with Marketing, Sales, Commercial Data & Analytics, and Finance teams to provide actionable insights, forecast spend, optimize budgets, and ensure procurement initiatives are fully integrated and supported.
Continuously monitor market trends, supplier capabilities, and industry best practices within Marketing Services procurement to identify, evaluate, and personally implement opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and performance enhancement.
Act as the definitive subject matter expert and trusted advisor for Marketing Services procurement, guiding stakeholders through complex sourcing decisions and ensuring adherence to best practices and compliance requirements.
QualificationsMinimum 10-12 years of hands-on Procurement experience within both small- and large- company environments, with a significant focus on strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, and supplier management within Marketing Services, preferably within the US biopharmaceutical industry. Experience from the consumer packaged goods industry with relevant pharmaceutical client exposure will also be considered.
Demonstrated expertise in the execution and leadership of complex sourcing events and contract negotiations for Creative Agency, Media Agency, and Commercial Market Research / Data & Analytics firms, with a proven track record of delivering measurable cost savings and value.
Profound understanding and practical experience in all phases of the procurement lifecycle, from strategic category planning and demand analysis to RFX execution, contract development & negotiation, and ongoing supplier performance management.

Demonstrated ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy, manage multiple concurrent projects, and deliver results in a fast-paced, lean organizational environment.
Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and influencing skills, with the ability to effectively partner with and guide commercial teams and senior leadership through complex procurement initiatives.
In-depth knowledge of pharmaceutical marketing and sales operations, including budgeting, accounting principles, and the regulatory landscape impacting promotional activities.
Proficiency with best-in-class procurement processes & practices spanning category management, supplier management, negotiation planning, and project management.
Preferred:
Prior experience working directly within a Creative Agency, Media Agency, or Commercial Market Research / Data & Analytics firm serving the pharmaceutical industry.
