Job description: We are a PE-backed manufacturer of parts for rail and road vehicles, looking for a strategic buyer to join our team.
Job requirements:
Further development of existing procurement strategies and implementations of defined targets for selected product groups. Initiation and implementation of procurement processes in the context of new and series projects up to successful initial sampling. Global supplier market analysis, development and establishment of new sources of supply. Responsibility for quality, costs and delivery performance in selected product groups. Development and implementation of cost reduction measures and sustainable optimization of procurement costs, including benchmark analyses (best cost country sourcing taking TCO aspects into account) and supplier workshops. Initiation of and participation in Group-wide standardization and bundling projects for purchased materials. Conducting condition and contract negotiations with national and international suppliers and tools. Observance of supplier risk management and feasibility assessment of purchased parts and tools. Participation in supplier selection, evaluation and development.
Requirements :
10+ years of experience in direct procurement Experience in the manufacturing industry, ideally heavy equipment, heavy vehicle, construction machinery, aerospace, etc. Familiar with rather complex domestic and international supply chains, involving a wide range of components such as profiles, glass, castings, and electronic or electrical equipment. Ability to source and coordinate across diverse suppliers, long lead times, and strict quality and regulatory standards. Successfully completed a degree in Business, Engineering, or equivalent commercial/technical training. Several years of proven experience in strategic or operational purchasing Strong negotiation skills with a track record of achieving favourable outcomes Solid understanding of framework agreement structuring and contract management Excellent communication skills; fluency in German is highly preferred Proficient in MS Office and SAP systems – Strong analytical thinking with a cross-functional mindset; adaptable, assertive, and solution-oriented High level of intercultural competence and willingness to travel internationally (approx. 25%)
