A growing heavy equipment manufacturer in Chattanooga, TN is seeking a Purchasing Manager to lead daily procurement operations and build a high-performance purchasing team. About the

Role:

As Purchasing Manager, you’ll oversee all sourcing, purchasing, and vendor management activities in support of production for large-scale machinery. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring materials and parts are delivered on time, at the right price, and with the highest quality-while coaching and growing a team of Buyers.

What You’ll Do:

Lead procurement operations for all direct and indirect materials Develop and implement purchasing strategies aligned with production timelines Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts, pricing, and delivery terms Collaborate cross-functionally with production, sales, engineering, and inventory control Drive cost savings, process efficiency, and continuous improvement Supervise, mentor, and evaluate a team of up to 9 procurement professionals Analyze trends, forecasts, and market conditions to optimize buying decisions Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations

What You Bring:

12+ years of experience in purchasing/procurement in a heavy manufacturing environment Strong knowledge of technical, mechanical, and commodity item purchasing Experience with ERP systems (preferably Oracle ) Skilled in blueprint reading and bill of materials (BOMs) Proven negotiation, vendor management, and team leadership skills Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field preferred Advanced certifications (CPSM, CPM, Lean Six Sigma) are a plus Why Apply?
