The Office for Investment (OfI) was spun out of Downing Street in January 2021 and is now a joint unit between No.10, His Majesty’s Treasury and the Department for Business and Trade (DBT). The Office works closely with Secretaries of State, Junior Ministers, and No.10 to deliver the highest-value, highest profile investment propositions. The team operates a flexible and flat structure which means that staff across all grades have the opportunity to work directly alongside the senior leadership and have direct exposure to ministers and senior business executives. Within the OFI, a new Investment Marketing, Propositions & Digital Promotion division has been created to develop a more comprehensive investment proposition, marketing, and digital offer as well as service to the investment network (internal) and investors (external). In this division, the Investment Marketing & Propositions team will be responsible for coordinating the planning/scheduling, production, and dissemination of propositions and other collateral to promote the UK as a destination for investment. Working in close collaboration with others across DBT and broader government, the team will develop a clear Why UK? investment offer, founded on place-based strengths and aligned to sector/policy priority areas. It would reflect the objectives of the industrial strategy and exploit sector plans being developed by OGDs by developing corresponding market-facing propositions for super-sectors and relevant sub-sectors. The OFI needs to make the most of the UK’s offer and effectively package and sell that offer to both international and domestic investors. The Engagement Manager role sits within this team, reporting to the Engagement Lead. The Engagement Manager will help to support DBT’s global network to effectively promote the UK and its key sectors as investment destinations of choice, leveraging proposition collateral and appropriate marketing and event campaigns.

Key accountabilities will include:

Help the Engagement Lead ensure that the pipeline of propositions is effectively shared with the broader DBT global network, building capability and awareness. Support the development of an engagement approach for DBT’s global network with clear audience-appropriate messaging. Work with others (including the Propositions Pipeline Lead, Marketing & Events Leads, and Investment Learning team) to use proposition material to build capability across DBT global network and feature proposition collateral in appropriate marketing and event campaigns; plan this in collaboration with the Lead. Support in establishing and managing virtual project teams for engaging the network on propositions. Help your team build strong relationships across the OFI and broader DBT network to support engagement with propositions and delivery to the investment network and markets.
