PROGRAM SPECIALIST
Travelers Aid of Greater Birmingham Description:

The Program Specialist reports directly to the Executive Director and is a professional position that blends program administration, client services, and community outreach.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, or other related field 2 years of case management experience Familiarity with the local social services network Exceptional verbal and written communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google applications desirable Experience in program development and/or collaborative projects highly desirable Ability to relate to a wide range of people with flexibility, sensitivity, and acceptance Ability to manage conflict professionally Ability to work independently and as part of a team Sound judgment, initiative, integrity, professionalism, positivity, and commitment to the mission of

Travelers Aid Responsibilities:

Provide professional case work services, including assessment, counseling, short-term case management, information and referral, financial assistance, and the development and implementation of client case plans in line with Travelers Aid policies and procedures. This includes maintaining timely and confidential client records. Serve as a liaison with other community organizations and promote agency services. Represent Travelers Aid at community and organizational events (e.g., OneRoof, United Way campaigns, community fairs). Assist with agency and program fundraising and marketing efforts. Support the Executive Director in exploring new agency/program collaborations and funding opportunities. Prepare annual program statistics for agency budgeting and reporting. Assist with the Senior Ride program as needed (reservations, record keeping, etc.). Perform additional duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

The agency provides case work and financial assistance to individuals and families who become displaced in the community, and operates Senior Ride, a medical transportation program for low-income elderly and disabled adults.
