RFID Lab:

The Auburn University RFID Lab is a provenleader in RFID research and technology application. The Labcollaborates with partners to develop specialized technologiesdesigned to enhance RFID and serialized identification sensorcapabilities and improve data capture systems in various technologyfields, and researches and promotes the business case and value ofadoption in food operations and supply chain. The RFID Lab includesa simulated factory, warehouse, distribution center, retail,aviation, and food formats – including mall apparel and high-endfashion boutiques. The Lab is active in many research areas,including engineering, food safety, logistics, and using variouswireless technologies to develop new solutions. The RFID Labengages undergraduate and graduate students and faculty members totest technology, develop intellectual property, obtain patents, andpotentially generate growth in the RFID market with new companiesand products. Responsibilities:

The primary function of the position is tosupport the programmatic and research operations and researchprojects within the development program of the RFID Lab. Thevarious program units within the Lab are engaged in the planningand performing analyses and tests required for research,development, and/or quality control including responsibilities suchas: managing the design and planning of experiments and tests;managing lab testing systems and retention and presentation of labdata; ensuring lab testing and reporting consistencies aremaintained with datasets; generating new research project concepts;and overseeing and participating in faculty and industry researchprojects. Specifically, the essential duties and responsibilitiesrelated to this opportunity include: Aids in the oversight of the daily research and developmentoperations of the Lab to meet schedules, standard procedures, andincreased awareness of sensor technologies. Manages the design andplanning of experiments and tests. Leads a team to create immersive experiences that representRFID, EPC and UPC data collection to further enhance the missionand goals of the lab. Collaborates with key stakeholders to identify areas forimprovement, assess current practices, and develop customizedsolutions that align with a common goal. Assists in Sponsored Project coordination and grant management,supports external partner activities, visits, and events for thelab and University fundraising purposes. Generates new research project concepts and oversees andparticipates in faculty and industry research projects. Supportsthe Lab in the endeavors of potential funded research by preparingdemonstrations and/or program-related presentations from the datacollected in the field. Provide oversight in student team management including scheduledevelopment, instructing and training students, data collectiontests, RFID tagging items in a virtual environment and testing witha RFID reader. May travel for events and research as necessary. May be responsible for training, assisting or assigning tasksto others. May provide input to performance reviews of otheremployees. Minimum Qualifications Qualifications:

Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree from anaccredited institution when employment begins. Additionally,candidates must have at least 1 year of experience with RFIDsystems. The successful candidate must be legally authorized towork in the United States at the time of appointment and be able towork legally for the term of employment.

Additional qualificationsinclude: Experience in Radio Frequency systems and computernetworks. Proficient in gathering client requirements, documentation, andsolution development. A proven dedication to managing projects and mentoringemployees along with a demonstrated ability to effectivelycollaborate with multiple constituents.
