Job Description Ultra I&C is seeking a Senior Program Manager for its Huntsville, AL office to lead a large-scale, multi-phase development effort. This role will oversee a program valued up to $100M, managing both internal teams and a subcontractor responsible for key portions of system development. The program spans four major phases.
The ideal candidate will have direct experience with system integrations, Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), and managing Earned Value (EV) programs. They must be comfortable navigating open-ended scopes of work, identifying when to trigger funding provisions, and ensuring alignment with customer objectives across cost, schedule, and technical performance.
Have overall responsibility for managing revenue, gross margins, cost, and profit elements of multiple projects, ensuring Earned Value Metrics align with financial targets.
Develop and maintain project schedules with weekly updates, including resource level loading and baseline management.
Monitor and evaluate loosely defined project scope to identify new work areas and initiate funding requests in coordination with the customer.
Identify, track, and mitigate programmatic and technical risks.
Conduct/support internal and external customer milestone reviews, including presentation material development.
Lead monthly project executive reviews.
Coordinate a geographically split development team, with a subcontractor and systems engineering team based in Huntsville (HSV), and software development team based in Austin (AUS).
Coordinate with Contracts, Finance, Human Resources, and Procurement to support program activities.
Lead and/or support proposal development to secure follow-on work and new programs.
Build and maintain relationships with new and existing customers.
Manage the creation and delivery of Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs), including the Program Management Plan, Risk Management Plan, and Monthly Status Reports.
Prioritize deadlines and apply problem-solving skills to program challenges.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Active US Security Clearance at the Secret or Top-Secret Level. Security Clearances are granted to US Citizens.
Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience in lieu of a degree.
6+ Years’ experience managing DoD programs, including direct involvement with Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs).
PMP Certification or willingness to obtain within a year of hire.
Willing to travel 25% of the time domestic and international.
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
Experience with C2 and/or air and missile defense systems and working with government customers.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Business acumen with leadership capabilities; ability to manage diverse technical and non-technical teams throughout all program phases.
Demonstrated ability to secure follow-on opportunities through strong program execution and customer relationship management.
Experience leading multi-team programs, including direct staff supervision, performance management, and personnel decisions.
Ability to adapt to various environments, from Rapid Prototyping and IR D to structured defense contracts.
Expertise in managing project budgets, resources, and performance risks.
