Music Program Coordinator
BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF SOUTH ALABAMA INC 1102
Government St, Mobile, AL 36604 Will be responsible for managing the day-to-day program logistics of the Music Program, including but not limited to: managing program budget, complete grant reporting, develop strategic community partnerships/outreach, and managing the daily music activities.
Typical activities include:
Open Studio time, scheduled workshops/lessons, performance opportunities, and building/facilitating mentoring relationships with members as they engage in/with rhythm section instruments, ensembles, and music production.
Hours:
Part-time Monday through Friday between 2:30pm-6:30pm, up to 25 hours per week during the school year. Clubs operate from 7:30am-5:30pm Monday through Friday during June & July – hours for this position may be adjusted based on needs of the Club.
Pay Rate:
$19 per hour, non-exempt
Location:
Will work in all Clubs affiliated with Boys & Girls Clubs of South Alabama (Mobile County and Foley).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
Prepare Youth for Success Plan and oversee the administration of designated Clubhouse music programs and activities that support
Youth Development Outcomes:
Establish Clubhouse program objectives consistent with organizational goals and mission. Oversee the provision of day-to-day program activities in accordance with established standards and goals. Ensure that members are encouraged to participate in a variety of program areas/activities and receive instruction and constructive feedback to develop skills in program area(s). Demonstrate leadership to assure conduct, safety and development of members. Program Development and Implementation Establish and maintain Clubhouse music program goals and settings that insure the health and safety of members. Ensure that departmental staff understand and effectively communicate standards of program; that they ensure program areas are safe, well ventilated and well lit; and that Club equipment is maintained in good working condition. Ensure the evaluation of Club music programs on a continual basis and ensures programs/activities respond to member needs. Control departmental and other assigned program and activity expenditures within approved budget.
Additional Responsibilities:
May support/perform at special programs and/or events (i.e. Keystone, Youth of the Year and Awards Programs), and/or participate in the implementation of other branch activities as necessary. May be required to drive Club van periodically. May consult with parents concerning member and branch issues.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
General knowledge of the music business/industry , including digital/social media An understanding of music production and recording (including ProTools software and Digidesign hardware) Ability to play at least one instrument at an advanced level. Ability to relate to culturally diverse group of teens/pre-teens as an instructor and mentor Direct experience developing and delivering a wide variety of programming to youth as well as an understanding of music performance theory and pedagogy.

WORK EXPERIENCE
At least 2 years experience developing and implementing youth music programs BA degree preferred Will consider candidates without a Bachelor’s Degree based on related experience in advanced musical knowledge, rhythm section instrument proficiency, and music production techniques
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Visual:
Normal acuity required daily for making color distinction, depth of sight, preparing/analyzing figures, computer use, and written records 8+ hours
Communication:
Able to express thoughts and ideas in an accurate and understandable manner through verbal and written format with internal and external contacts 8 hours per day
Movement:
Ability to maneuver within work site 6-8 hours per day
Lifting/Pulling/Pushing/Carrying:
Able to comfortably move and manipulate up to 20 lbs of weight up to 4-6 hours per day
NOTE:
Selected candidates are required to have a background check, receive clearance from DHR, take a pre-employment drug test, complete a TB test and basic physical, and be fingerprinted.
